We were lucky that we got very little snow this week and it's already gone here. I kept checking that parkrun was still on and fortunately it was a beautiful but icy morning.
A few weeks ago I started to commit to a warm up run because apparently it's not enough punishment! So I trotted around the local park for a K and then headed to the quay for parkrun.
The briefing told us about some icy puddles but otherwise the usual route. Everyone set off fast and I was surprised that I was being overtaken quite a bit as I was keeping a good pace but kept it steady. The marshall were fantastic and there was one standing at the edge of every icy patch to stop accidents.
I managed a sprint finish, my fartlek training is paying off! π
Not quite my fastest time but 27.58 which I'm happy with and even better I was first in my age category which was a big surprise as I'm usually about fifth!
Good time for you Crawlhome, you certainly did not crawl round the park this morning with a time of 27.58, that is what I call running π π. You were lucky as there were hundreds of parkruns cancelled today because of adverse weather conditions.
Sounds good CH - we were ok at Portsmouth Lakeside too and although there were a few icy patches, to my surprise I got a PB of 28.26! Can't match your age category though - 9th π
