I didn't join Ju-Ju's Magic 10 in January because, having only graduated at the end of December, I thought I should concentrate on consolidating c25k for a while first. Well, 9 weeks & 27 runs later, it seems I have bumbled my way up to 10k anyway!
I'm over the moon with my progress but unsure how to proceed from here, what's the best way to consolidate? My long term goal is to stay well enough to keep running, I'm not concerned about speed or pace, it's all about physical & mental health for me.
I really appreciate any advice or experience, I'm constantly amazed by all the achievements on this forum! Thanks for taking time to read my post, happy running πββοΈπ

Well done. What an achievement. I havenβt managed to get to 10k yet but Iβd say carry on doing what youβre doing and just enjoy it. Well done π
Wow, congratulations. π Iβm impressed. I am just consolidating C25k and then hoping to work towards a full 5 k before tackling the 10. This gives me hope that just keeping on keeping on can do the job. Do you sing as you run? Maybe thatβs the key? πππΌπ Well done. Happy smiling day!
I do sing when I'm running but it's mostly gasping & miming! I had to take a break from performing in October due to ill health, the running has been a way of improving my stamina so that when I go back to my choir (in 3 weeks time, eek), I can hopefully get through Bach's St John Passion without collapsing or relapsing! Congratulations on completing the programme, awesome work, enjoy your consolidation & the next stage of your journey. ππββοΈπ
I'd say add variety to your plans. Enter a 10k fun run to give you a goal. Vary the type of runs and routes you do. Short runs longer runs, interval training or hills. Just keep doing it and enjoy it
Thanks Dave, I've been changing my route & taking in some hills (which were a revelation after doing 5km mostly on the flat!). I'll have a look for a local fun run, it hadn't occurred to me to try something like that, great advice thanks. π
Congratulations this is a great achievement. What you do next really depends on you and what fits into your life style. When I am in the office full time to can fit in 3 runs (on a good week); 2 before work and 1 longer run at the weekend. So I base my week on the final weeks of Magic plan. A 4/4.5K, followed by 5/5.5K during the week and the a 7/8/9 or 10K run during the weekend. For the past 2 months I've had more time and so have varied things up a bit; some runs I do intervals, a relaxed run and then a longer run which is creeping (0.5k) up in distance very gradually. I will need to adapt again next month but for now it is fun to try different things.
Hi Fit2Sing , brilliant achievement, All I can say is enjoy your new distance, maybe not every run! But certainly once a week/fortnight....just to prove you still can...well done
Congratulations on your first 10k - very good time too! π My weekly routine since achieving 10k 4 months ago has been parkrun, one 5k and (usually) one 10k - unless something gets in the way. Depends what you want to do next I guess!π
