Well I graduated c25k on 5th Sept, I had no intention at that point of running more than 5k. But gradually over the last few weeks I've added a km here and a km there, and loved the fact I've felt comfortable enough with my running to do so.
Tonight after work I went out to have a go at doing 10k. It certainly was a challenge tonight, not anywhere as easy as my 9k run last week, but I jeffed my way around. Between 4 and 7km the gremlins were in full voice telling me to give up, but, after slowing my pace for a minute or so I was off again, determined to do this; and I did it and sub 1hour 20 which I'm especially amazed about.
Need to find me a 10k event and get me some bling!

Yay! Well done SANDI_runs! Virtual bling for you 🏅. It is tempting to sign up for an event isn't it! I always give myself a let out clause when planning my running but couldn't do that for my 10km run as I did it as a sponsored run. The weather forecast was dreadful and I spent days dreading it. I'm worried about signing up for something then not wanting to go!
I agree baddie it's difficult this time of year as the weather is not likely to be good, but I am hopeful the atmosphere at the event and the desire to get myself some bling will get me through it. The next local event to me is in December, so a few weeks away. Giving me plenty of time to prepare, and practice in the poor weather
It's amazing how quickly you get used to running that little bit more, and as you get closer to 10k it's like a carrot dangled in front of you, giving you the incentive to keep going.
Next year is a long way off. I'm not rushing into HM running, just think it would be a great achievement. Of course If I choose to increase from 10k it will be steady and a 10 mile event or 2 if they come with bling could be on the cards 😁
Awww thanks cheeky, I'm still sky high and giddy with my achievement.
I must admit as I was running around and the gremlins were telling me 5k......6k......7k is enough, I thought cheeky will be doing her 10k this week. I knew if I didn't do it today, it would be next week for me due to other plans this week. You motivated me to keep going and for that I thank you.
Thanks Neil. I enjoyed parts of it, and really enjoyed it coming to an end!!! It did feel like a really long run. There were parts where my legs were heavy and the gremlins loud and I thought i really couldn't go on, but a new tune would come on and I seemed to find the energy to keep going.
I think I will treat myself to a few shorter runs before trying another 10k
My new trainers come tomorrow, so would be rude not to take them out for a nice little run!
Enjoy your 4k x
Fantastic SANDI_runs! 😁👏👏👏
You were one of the first people that I saw graduate at the start of my C25K journey, that was a huge inspiration for me then... and you doing it again now!!!
Fantastic progress. Took me way longer to get up to 10k a year or so ago but the medal bagging became a real motivation to do more and longer runs....even managed a half marathon in September and have signed up for two more next year....who knows where your running might go. Congratulations.
