What a beautiful morning. Not just because of the blue sky, sun, birds and early signs of Spring, but also because I ran my first 10K! Slow and steady, but I did it, actually managing to speed up during the last 3K!
Thanks to ju-ju for the excellent 10K plan - the structure really helped me to achieve what I though was impossible for me. And thanks to all the runny people (I believe that is the term) on this forum that have given such great advice and encouragement. I definitely wouldn't have done this without you.
I feel a little bit proud of myself, which is not something that happens much these days. Made a very self-indulgent cake yesterday and am planning to have a large slice for my elevenses!
Thanks again to all, and happy running. πβ€πββοΈ

Thanks Cazza! Feels great to have achieved what I thought was impossible. I'm sure you'll be alongside me on the podium soon. Hope all the runs go well. ππ
Yaaaay! wooohooo! π₯³ πππ»π well done ππ» and look at you speeding up during the last 3k π² you should feel massively proud of yourself!
You definitely deserved a large slice of cake π° π
Thanks 007! Great to join you on the podium. I tell you what, that slice of cake easily wiped out the calories used to run the 10K! And it was delicious. Happy running. π°π°π°π€£π
Thank you! And for the fizz, bling and cake! I had the real piece of cake and for once didn't feel guilty - well, ju-ju did say we should reward ourselves for achieving a milestone!! Happy running. πππ€£π€£
Thank you so much - lovely to hear from you. The "little bit proud" is me thinking I'm not worth it. But the running does really help to swat those gremlins away. We have come a long way, haven't we? A year ago I was doing Week 6 of C25K and running 2 minutes per km more slowly than I did today. Not sure what I'll do next - need another plan! Hope you're well and enjoying the running. ππββοΈπ°π°β€
You're 100% worth it!! Even more than L'oreal would have you believe! π
I'm great thanks, alternately pushing max monthly distance or max single distance. I've cracked the HM now which was bugging me π€£ really enjoying long trail runs and using road runs for stress relief/mental health ππ
You're so kind! Sounds like you have a good personal running plan - I must try to do something similar. Though the HM distance seems like an unattainable goal! Thought I might try to work up to 16K as that is about 10 miles, and then see where it goes. The running really helps my mental health and makes me feel a lot stronger regarding the stresses of life. So glad to hear it's helping you in that way too. Take care and keep enjoying the running! πβ€πββοΈ
Thank you so much Oldfloss! I think the 10K plan has helped me with so much, including pacing and confidence in addition to sheer distance. It's a real winner. And has also helped me engage with this forum again. I run alone and so it's easy to feel that you're slow or generally not very good, until you post here and get so much validation and encouragement. All of you admins/mentors should feel proud that you have nurtured so many runners.
I need a post Bridge to 10K plan now! But will be doing some nice long runs as you suggest, to work off the cake! Thanks again. πππββοΈ
The Magic 10 on here is really good,,, I have used it more than once...It is slow and structured and now has added supplementary exercises.. which I have been using for my HM training too! Think where you want to go next, but enjoy some related running too... let it evolve...and maybe.. some short runs.. some 6 or 7Ks and some lovely longer, see where you get to runs
It's funny but until I did the 10K plan I thought that 5K was long and hard. So it has helped to change my perception of my own possibilities. How great is that! I hope your HM training is going well - that seems like a huge step up to me, so all power to your elbow (or feet). I think I might try to work up (gradually) to 16K, as that is about 10 miles? Thanks again. πππββοΈ
Thank you so much! Can't believe I actually did it, but now I want to go further. Not speedy like you, but managed a steady pace and increased speed towards the end, which I feel must be a good sign of what I could achieve if I really buckled down and stopped eating cake! This Bridge to 10K challenge has really re-kindled my enthusiasm. Hope your running is going well. πππββοΈ
Oh well done Jo - thatβs great! Sounds like it was a lovely run too. I hope you are going to celebrate. Have you thought about what next? πββοΈπββοΈππ π₯³π₯³
