Second 10k!

Phew .... 10k is still a very long way!

Completed Ju-ju's 10 is a Magic Number this morning with my second 10k ... thank goodness my first 10k a few weeks ago wasn't a fluke!

It was a good morning for a run, overcast, gentle breeze and 18 degrees. I chose the same route as my first 10k. Only one road to cross at a pedestrian crossing so no problem there, canal path, promenade park and a short distance of road/pavement. Plenty of variety to stop me getting bored ... at my speed I'm running for a long time!

Looking forward to some runs next week while we're away in Norfolk ... should be able to find some flat routes!

Thank you Ju-ju for your excellent plan, I intend to repeat it again soon. I'll do my own thing for a couple of weeks but I know I'll want to get back to some structure before long.

Good luck to any of you just starting out on Ju-ju's plan, stick with it, you'll soon be running 10k!

Happy running everyone!

Thanks.

Good advice about taking a week off.

I'm not running again till Parkrun on Saturday and then probably won't run again until Tuesday or Wednesday so will be having extra rest days.

Go for it!

Yay! Well done!!! I'm always shocked at how far even 1k is. I seem to run forever between the 1k buzzes on my watch. On the other hand, once you get past the toxic whatever time it is for you (20+ minutes for me), it does feel as if you could keep going forever x

Thanks Flick.

I know exactly what you mean. At the end of 1k I think blimey, I'm never going to run another 9k but somehow I plod on and after another hour plus I've done it!

... and as for the 'toxic 10' like you it seems to go on much longer!

Anyway, a few rest days now. I'm watching the Queens tennis this afternoon, I'm sure I can call that my rest day activity today!

I think Ive got to the stage where I know I will keep going, or that I can do the run, even if I feel like poo at the start - but it is a shock when you do what feels like a massively long run and then find it was only 6/7k. I want to push past my longest so far, which is 11k, but it’s finding places to run here that go beyond 10k but are less than 20k. I suppose I should run half the distance outward bound, then retrace my steps, but I hate doing that.

Ah, the tennis! I hope you have a tub of ice cream to accompany your “activity” 🍧🍦😈

I'm intending to repeat the plan again in a couple of weeks so hopefully I'll be running 10k number 3 before long!
