Well what a surprise that was. Dismissing the gremlins this morning I decided to make the most of the lighter mornings while they last, and set off for a 3k runπββοΈ
But when I got to 3k I carried on to 4k and when I got there, decided Iβd got more left in the tank and went on to run my first 5k ever πππ
Now to those of you who are regularly running 10K plus, that might sound like piffle but having graduated from C25K in August, Iβve not been able to get past 4K and so last night set myself a target of running 5k by Christmas and then starting ju-juβs 10K plan in the new year. Iβve beaten my own target by 7 weeks π―
Four hours later and Iβm still on a high and have decided that I can now post on Bridge to 10K as Iβm at least half way thereπ€. No great speed- still a π at 45 minutes, but a very happy π
Will try and consolidate the 5k over the next few weeks and then who knows πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Hope you can all enjoy the lovely running conditions while they lastπ

Congratulations πΎπΎπΎπΎfirst 5k is a real buzz, mine was only a few weeks ago and am still running 5k and each one feels more comfortable. Like you I'm yet to jump on the 10k bus. There's no rush, just enjoy running.π€ΈββοΈπ€ΈββοΈ
Brilliant well done - Iβm in your gang except I graduated last Oct and did my first 5 k in May - I still canβt do it in less than 37 minutes but I guess slow is ok - my aim is 7 k by Christmas Iβve started Ju Ju 10 k last week happy running πββοΈ
Itβs not easy took me 6 months from graduate to running 5 k - just not getting any faster π₯ just looked at Run 3 itβs 6 km not sure I can manage that βΉοΈ
Iβve decided that speed is overrated- and itβs certainly not prioritised on this forum. πspeed works for me.
You will be able to manage 6km at some point though- so just keep at it until you can- then move onto Run 4. Huge apologies if thatβs not how the programme works- havenβt properly checked it out yet π―
Woo hoo! I regularly run 10km, but I certainly do not see that first 5k as piffle! It is flipping amazing! And I remember mine very well indeed, as it is a massive achievement. Well done Beanjo! Just keep doing what you are doing as it is clearly working. xxx
Congratulations Beanjo for running your first 5K today. I bet you feel very happy about that run. I ran my first full 5k on 6 October and felt so delighted as you will feel today, once again, well done π
Thatβs strange AlMorr- thought Iβd replied to you but canβt see it anywhere! Anyway thank you for the encouragement and well done on your first 5k too ππ
Well done. And Welcome. Nobody is going to think your achievement isnβt much. We all had to work up to 10k and itβs good to consolidate then build distance gradually, so you are doing all the right things.
5k is a run that needs effort, however much further you end up being able to run. It was a huge mental barrier for me and my first few - late June- were around that time. Iβm now 10 minutes faster.
Youβve found 5k in a lovely way. I hope your journey to 10k is equally lovely, but do keep coming back to 5ks.
Well done Beanjo, great going! Park Run next? Iβve joined ju-juβs plan, starting tomorrow, because I need something new to aim for. Keep running π
