Bluetooth headphones help please

Looking for Bluetooth headphones for running, but it seems that all of them are noise cancelling, now this maybe a really embarrassing, obvious question for any under 70, but does this mean that you cannot hear external noise, for example cyclists coming up behind you. As I run most runs on a cycle track with my pups I can imagine carnage resulting if I don’t know a cyclist is about to overtake. My present headphones I can hear the music fine but can also hear the world around me. Any help appreciated

I’d suggest having a look at bone conducting headphones. As the name suggests they transmit the sound via your cheek bones so they don’t go in your ear. I’ve got some Aftershokz Trekz Air ones and they are great for hearing everything around you as well as your music.

They sound ideal, but more than I wanted to pay unfortunately, as I only ever use earphones when running would be difficult to justify the cost, unless you take into account being hit by a bus as you had your earphones in I guess 😂

I just have a cheap Bluetooth pair from B&M that do the trick for now. I take a bud out when crossing the road and such. But ive heard the bud ones are really good for hearing stuff around u.... I wasn't too sure how they worked tho so thanks for the explanation tony_a .

I think I'll look into them too.

Happy shopping

Do they have to be wireless? I’ve got aftershockz bone conductor wired, they’re a lot cheaper than the latest non wired ones, and work just as well. I still use an mp3/iPod for my tunes- I do occasionally still use the standard earphones with just one in, but the bone conductors are still superior in being able to hear what’s around you.

Hope you find something that suits.

Thought the cableless idea would be good as nothing to tangle before putting on or get accidentally caught whilst running and pulling earphones off, but will investigate further

I’ve got the ones with an ‘in line’ volume and pause control , e.g it’s in the wire near the headset, plus it has a clip on the wire that you can attach your shirt (or wherever....) to stop any flapping/snagging/slipping - which would drive me crackers - so understand your concern....I can’t stand anything flapping......😱😂.......the control is the same as iPod ones if you’ve ever used those.

Happy shopping!

I use these and don't have a problem hearing other sounds

amazon.co.uk/LinkWitz-Marat...

Depends how loud you have your music though!

I have used wireless in-ear headphones with my iPhone for about 3 years. They are brilliant, bombproof and cost about £15. They are not noise cancelling and I can hear traffic when I’m running. Like others I take one ear out if I am on a road with no path.

Go to Amazon and search for MPOW Bluetooth headphones. Don’t spend more than £20.

Not what you're looking for?
