Had a chance to run today so set off with just my phone on to track my run on Fitbit app.
I have a rough idea about the route for 5k but missed my phone cue at 4 and 5k due to traffic noise. Checked phone when I thought hang on I seemed to have run for ages and sure enough I had done 1k more than planned!
Next time I will use my headphones but just thought it would be nice to enjoy the sights and sounds of the country lane π

Better 1k too far without realising it than having one of those days when you feel like youβve been running forever and have not gone as far as you think π
As long as you enjoyed it and havenβt injured yourself or anything.
That sounds great! My runs at the moment seem to be the exact opposite, my phone tells me how far I have run and I'm thinking no way that's not possible, there must be a problem with the app, I can't possibly have only gone that far. Maybe it's a psychological thing with trying to run further? π¬
You're right! I think it's doubt about the long distance ahead now. Knowing I have to run 9k, when she tells me I've done 4 I freak out and think no way I was sure I must have done at least 5 already, if not more! It's not so much feeling tired as seeing that long distance still stretching out ahead of me and feeling like it's not getting any closer. Need to focus on what's already achieved....
Hi, I am planning my 9k on Sunday. It is definitely daunting and I can't make up my mind if I should try a new route or do 2 times round my 5k route with a longer warm up walk. Any advice greatly appreciated π
I'd say maybe try a new route. I did my usual one and it was that run when I spent the whole time stressing about how far I had or hadn't run....I also started to get bored. I did the 8k in another town on holiday and I found it psychologically much easier on a new route. And with the 9k, in fact physically it is not harder than the 8, it was all mental for me! Good luck!
