Wk 2 run 2 of the 10k plan

Hi after doing the 6k run on Saturday, decided that I would do the 5k today. Wasn’t really up to running but went straight after work to the local park for the run. I was in total shock after I had finished as I had just ran my PB in 30.16secs. My running journey started about a year ago when my sister got me hooked on parkrun. I feel as though I have come a long way from my first park run which was run in a time of 40.28. I am hoping to break the 30 minute barrier before my 50th parkrun which is in about 7 weeks.

Well done Boss, the sub 30 mins is what many of us hope for. You are just so close.

Are you going to dress up for your 50th parkrun? It is so special.

Thanks Dexy for your encouraging words, I probably won’t be dressing up I will most likely just put on the parkrun 50 bib

Oh we don’t have those at our parkrun - people here dress up or tie on balloons so everyone knows. Hubby had 50 birthday banner pinned on to his vest as he didn’t want to be slowed down.

Wow well done! That’s some serious improvement and where I hope to be in a few months time. My pace hasn’t improved during B210K but I think that’s because I’ve slowed down for the longer distances. My strength at the end of the runs is massively improving, so I think once I get used to 5km vs 10km pace I’ll start seeing quicker times.

Thanks GTypeR I’m sure you will improve for the last 3 or 4 months I have increased my running to 3 or 4 times a week at 5kand only just recently started to Vary my distance and already seeing an improvement in shorter distance but finding it harder on the longer distance. Not sure why but I can’t really do a slow pace on the longer runs. My longer runs are similar pace to my 5k pace any suggestions would be appreciated.
