Finally got round to putting this year’s calendar up and this is January’s picture, it really made me laugh as that was me last January.
I started week 3 of Bridge to 10k this morning and decided to do the short run, the rain and wind were heavy and strong during the night and not much better this morning, but as the rain eased off and there’s no escaping our strong southerlies anyway, it was suck it up and get on with it. Decided to head in to the wind along the uninspiring path next to the railway line, but a wave and a toot from a train driver had me grinning (they probably see my leggings from miles away) I had Otis Redding and Barry White for company, but the last couple of hundred metres it was Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, which was probably why I finished with a sprint. Loved, loved, loved that run. 7k run next a lot slower me thinks. Happy running everyone 🤓

Yay for train drivers! A lovely train driver once did a 'bing bong announcement' for my Jamaican friend Charm's birthday. She'd never been on a train (no trains in Jamaica) so we went to the next town along to the night club and I accosted the driver as he got on the train and asked if he could organise a special 'bing bing announcement'. 'Bing bong, this train will be stopping at blah blah and happy birthday Charm'.
Aah! That’s so cool, for you to ask and the train driver to oblige. Sometimes its just the small things that mean so much. Would have made Charm’s day.
Good work, lexi! I hate running in the wind, it can be such hard work. 😬 But glad to hear you loved it. Good music can be fuel for a happy run, can’t it?
That picture made me laugh! Definitely me during every exercise kick I ever went on before taking up running. I am still amazed that running is the one routine that stuck! (It’s been 17 months now!)
Glad I went out this morning when I did Sadie, the wind is even stronger now. Wow! 17 months running, fantastic, I hope I’ll be able to say that too in another 6 months. I’d love a Grad 10 badge next to my name, so if the forecast is right it may be Thursday before I can have a go again, am picking my next playlist, can’t wait and being positive will change my glasses 😎
Oh you will get there! 10k is well within your reach. 👍 Pesky weather though! Hope it calms down soon. Bad weather predicted for the SE of England for the end of this month, so I am getting lots of running in now while I can!
Thanks Wimborne, he took my mind off the wind and I think I went in to turbo mode (turbo snail) after having a laugh fingers crossed for Thursday 😎
LOL that picture is so me. I can still give myself a dozen reasons not to run- the only difference is I now ignore those voices. You’re doing brilliantly xxx
Its so funny! its from my Drama Queen Calendar which I ended up buying because I hadn’t any 2019 calendars by the end of last year, if I’d just waited - I now have five, just like blimmin buses you wait for ages and then they all come at once! This is my favourite, every month a guaranteed giggle. Thanks Flick I’m feeling so happy with my progress so far, I’m learning to try and ignore those little pests too. 🤞Xx
Well done Lexi6, I just love your calendar page. I bet that train-driver is a runner too, and knew that a little toot would make you smile. You will smash that 10k and then you’ll be hanging around the podium to clap every one else in. 🌬🏃♀️👏👏👏 🚂
Glad you had a good run, Lexi! You’ve got my respect, as I chickened out of running due to high winds here in the UK yesterday. Running into a head wind just saps energy! Well done! 😊❤️
Thanks MD s’cuse late response just come back from dentist yuk! Need to go for more treatment but said I had to do my 7k first. Whats happened to me? 😂
Go Lexi!! Brilliant run! The rains not going to stop you! Well done for a great run!! And good on the train driver and Tina for providing that extra boost!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️
Thanks Fab. I saw Tina when she came out to NZ many years ago, she was amazing and I reckon she’d have been a great runner with those fabulous legs of hers! Next run will be tomorrow still blowing a gale here. 🤞
