Morning all - hope you all had a good PR this morning.
I had to give up at this mornings Park Run, due to being in so much pain - in my whole body! At 47 I decided it would a great idea to start HIIT training (first session yesterday), in time it’ll be brilliant and will do wonders for my form, running a ability and speed - but today I can barely walk or lift my arms! Yesterday I had to rest my elbows on the table to eat a toastie!
Maybe a short maintenance run later with some nurofen to ease the muscles!
Next session on Tuesday @6am 🤯
Stay frosty people ❤️

Lol - it’s one of those things you know is going to happen (because you haven’t done anything like that in years) and you know it’ll be a few weeks of discomfort...... but it seems to hurt more than it did when I was 30! Lol.
Onwards and upwards! My problem is I’m supposed to doing a 10k in two weeks, but hey ho. I just need to work through it and take some more man-up pills! Lol.
I would say do it! I started as I know my core is weak so I’m getting more tired than I should be as my legs are doing all the work!
They do say go at hard as you can to get the most out of it. Being a man, I did exactly that, and the wind almost blew me over after the session - my legs were hammered!
I’d say do it, but maybe after any goal you might have in mind lol. It’ll only help in the long run!
😂 I shouldn’t laugh, but sorry, I am! I know the feeling well. I did a rather hardcore Pilates class recently where we did loads of core strength moves and arm exercises using weights. Woke up the next day in agony, arms as weak as a kitten, could barely lift a coffee mug.
Sorry you had to abort PR - but very wise. It will get better (and less achy) the more you do it (the HIIT) so stick with it, Mitch! But maybe factor in a rest/gentle stretch day after. 😂
Doing it the day before Parkrun was the only mistake, going at it as hard as you could was the right approach - and young TM, don't worry, I started doing HIIT as part of my short run while crossing the Bridge, it only did me good, and I'm 67 ……
Unfortunately the other sessions are in the evenings and I can’t get back from London in time... so that meant I had to do the 6am Friday morning session
Shame Mitch I feel your pain...but that did make me laugh (sorry!) 😂 Maybe take the next session a tad easier. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?! 💪💪🏋️♂️
