Morning everyone...well it was when I set off this morning!! I hope you have all had a great weekend of wonderful running?? I have just had one of the BEST runs ever. It was one of those 'robot legs' runs that I haven't had for yonks!!
I am now on week 2 or Jeff Galloways 10k...last week I was worried that I wasn't running far enough so I kept sticking an interval session on the end of the cadence drill session and gliding thingy...but I need not have worried about distance because the runs obviously get longer as the programme goes on..todays session was a 10min warm up, run/walk 4k then a 10 min cool down...so I set off, walked the first prob 5 mins as I do when I go for a run...then I started running...my watch soon vibrated to tell me it was time to run the 4k...the song in my ears was 'Good Vibrations' by the Beach Boys and although the rhythm is a bit slow, I found myself running along in time to the beat, I definitely had rhythm this morning because I just kept on running...and running...and running..there was no walking involved for me from that moment on, every song sounded good, the scenery was beautiful...there were a couple of barges on the water , I felt my legs had the 'robot legs' feeling that I haven't felt for ages!! So I ran a total of 6.32kms in 51 mins, I know it's not fast and it includes the 5 min walk at the start but honestly, this is the best run I have had for ages...I am a runner, I know I am when I have a run like this. I ran past a building that has dark windows and you can just see all the people inside working away and I wondered if anyone wished they were outside running instead of being cooped up in their office...I thought about all those brilliant runners who took part in the GSR yesterday...and I thought what a wonderful run I was having!! I absolutely love a run like this...this is what running is all about. I hope you all have a good week of wonderful runs...I'm sending you all wonderful run vibes xx

You seem to have enjoyed your run today Mummycav, robot legs, good one for you, maybe those office workers did wish they were outside, if not running, at least not in the office.
Talking about the Great South Run, do you fancy running in the Great North Run at any time? Running along with 20,000+ people is a lot different than running on your own or even with around 200/300 runners at a parkrun.
Fab MC - getting back in the swing of things nicely! I think slow is best Iโve felt so much better since slowing down and adding 30 secs on a km. Really made a ridiculous difference to me. Am all enthusiastic again and my bum cheek loves it too!! Who knew?! ๐ will look up old Jeff as I could be getting back in to 10ks if my bottom will allow it. Keep up the good work! Xxx
Brilliant Fishypieface ...I am so glad to hear your bum cheek is behaving itself!!! Slowing down is def the key here...I always start slowly and subconsciously speed up...not dead fast but faster, but today I made a conscious effort to stay at the same pace as the beach boys...and it worked! I even ran through what should've been the cool down..If you have a garmin there are loads of plans on there by different coaches..I picked Jeff because he allows walk breaks and considers them to be part of a run instead of me feeling like I'm cheating but if I run at the same pace I did this morning I won't be walking let me tell ya!! Come on Fishy, get some run/walks in and you'll be knocking 10ks out like foxes biscuits knock crunch creams out!!
Oooh, I bought some of those yesterday for my daughter but 2 managed to find their way into my mouth! Not at the same time mind. Delish! Worth another km on the next run!
I feel like10K is on the cards though MC for both of us! That's a really nice feeling xx
I am good thanks, MC, but missing my running. ๐ Am strength training, swimming and cycling, but none of it feels as good as a run! Pfffffft! Patience is a virtue, eh! xxx
They certainly do...my music taste stretches from music from the 60's that my Mum and Dad played...the 70's that my older Brothers and Sister used to play the 80's and 90's that I played and the naughties to current that both me and my children like, so my playlists are full of memories x
Ours too we have a few that bring tears to our eyes and make us run faster and a few of Willows early songs that make me giggle and him run off with embarrassment
That sounds lovely...I lost my Mum 10 years ago this year, on New years eve and she was a very musical person, she played the piano and got her BA Honors in music aged 62..she was a very talented musician...piano music always brings a tear to my eye as she used to play me to sleep when I was younger x
Iโm on night shift and planning a 5K run when I get home in the morning before bed and another nights work. Your post has made me want the night to pass quickly so Zi can get out there. It will be my 1st run for a week, so getting withdrawal symptoms!
love those moments quirkybee ...they are just the best and keep us wanting more...going back out to get that feeling again!!! Of course you can borrow mine, anytime...but you'll have to come to my house to get them so we can run together!!! I will send you some through the virtual post if you don't show up by tomorrow!!! xxxx๐
