Face plant & eating dirt

Set out for my run this morning 1.5k in and feeling good; the sun was shining I’m in the lovely countryside, a bunny has just bounced across the path ahead of me, & it’s a bank holiday weekend. Then BANG and I’m flat on my face. ****er!! Must have caught my toe on some uneven ground. I sit up and check for injuries. Firstly I’m covered in soil from head to toe on my left side including my face. My cheek is stinging (the one on my face that is!) and I’ve grazed my hand - but everything seems to be intact! I try a few steps, run my tongue round my teeth to ensure they are all still there and spit out the dirt. Yep I’m ok- so I finished the rest of the run completing 7.45k. As soon as i stop I realise that my shoulder is scraped and bruised, as is my knee & my cheek is still stinging. At home I look in the mirror - oops & patch myself up. I think I might be a bit bruised and a bit sore tomorrow but it could have been worse, particularly as I was in the middle of nowhere! Adrenaline is great for a good run result though! Moral of the story - pick my feet up & look where I’m going!! Happy running all - take care out there!! 🏎😲

We all tumble at some point. Goes with the territory I suppose 👍

Your’e all right thank goodness 😃👍

Oooo I bet that stings! I agree with the adrenaline thing though, it is amazing how we are able to pick ourselves up and keep going when we need to. 👍

Good job on picking yourself up and keeping on for a very respectable distance. I had 3 almost tumbles yesterday on my trail run yesterday, always involving my left foot. Managed to catch myself each time before face planting, which is good because I was running in the middle of nowhere.

...but did you pause your Garmin!!😉 Seriously, well done for carrying on - I have taken the odd tumble myself and can vouch for the benefits of adrenaline! 🙂
