I did my first 8K! Need help with my lobster face issue πŸ˜…

I've been following jujus plan and managed to do my first 8k today... Im made up as a year ago I'd never even considered running as I have issues with my ankle after a bad break 12 years ago. Also Im doing it all on a treadmill as I don't really have anywhere near me I can get to to run outside, but I actually don't mind it! I did the couch to 5k on a treadmill in the gym, but at Christmas I took the plunge and got my own.. Anyway, I'm sat here with a right lobster face right now... Is it just me?! Whenever I see people out running they never look like my face does!! I'm about to go out and am thinking I shouldve planned my day better to give my face time to calm down!! Any tips to lose the redness would be great!

I'm a bit of a lurker here but really enjoy the support that is out there... Who knew running could be so addictive!! Thanks for reading :)

Well done Jules. It must take some mental toughness to do 8k on the treadmill - you should be proud. As for your red face - I am exactly the same. It used to bother me but the more I run the less I care. Although I do regret buying a bright pink running top which only exaggerates the problem πŸ…

Very well done Jules and extra kudos to you for running 8k on a treadmill! The most I’ve managed on one is 5k! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

And as for your lobster face, you certainly aren’t alone. I resemble a πŸ… after most of my runs, outside or on the treadmill! πŸ˜…

Happy running! πŸ‘πŸ˜€

I was out running along country lanes this afternoon, wearing a red fleece hat - came back with matching hat and face! :)

There's some ideas here

But also, are you actually overheating? Are you wearing too much? πŸ€”

Thanks all..

I don't think I'm overheating as when I used to run in the gym with a fan on me I'd still go red... I've always gone red during any sort of exercise... Thanks for the article though.. I tend to feel cold quite quickly after I've finished too so I don't think I'll be taking a cold shower anytime soon!

Glad to hear it's not just me with this problem!

I have a TV in front of the treadmill so it's my time to watch all the senseless programmes that the other half doesn't want to watch and that you don't need to really concentrate on!

If you find the magic answer please let me know πŸ˜€. I don’t know why but mine carries on getting redder for a while even after I’ve stopped. πŸ˜‚.

I'm also a lobster face and although I hid away and did my couch to 5k in quiet places with very few people around I now run right through the middle of town on my way home with my face beaming like a happy lobster beacon! It tends to stay a little pink for a while even after a shower. I think its been good for me to adjust my comfort zone so I feel quite okay with it now.

A huge well done on your 8K! Especially on a treadmill! I'm another lobster face person but I honestly don't give a toss. I see it as a badge of exercise honour and it just shows that you've worked your body really hard which you should be very proud of.

I'm an outside runner now but I did most of the programme on the treadmill (because of an old ankle injury, like you) but with last week's snow and ice I headed to the treadmill again and ran 7.5K on it. Guess what? My face was shiny, sweaty and the most vivid red and it took ages to settle down! No one batted an eyelid, I dripped everywhere but felt epic πŸ’ͺ

But running inside on a treadmill is much hotter than outside and will make your face much redder than if you ran outside. I know you say you don't have anywhere outside but it is cooler!

Nevertheless, forget about your face and celebrate what your body can DO πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

🦞🦞πŸ₯΅, Not in this weather, but I do on holiday, or when I ran during the summer.

I just ignore it, it goes eventually.

Well done on the 8k 🀩

Well done! 8k! That’s my next run and I too look like a lobster after every run and it takes ages for it to go down and when it does eventually fade I look really pale πŸ‘»
