It's just too hot.

In the past 10days since I finished my 50 mile challenge I 've only run twice. Both 5k events. I'm just too tired at 530 6am to go out and run and it's just too hot after that. Last night was the first time I thought it might be cool enough and I had a runners boot camp session. That was great but I need to run!!!

Everyone on here also seems to be struggling with the heat but at least getting out !!

Here's hoping I can get out tomorrow for at least 5k. First time ever I've been hoping that the temperature drops. Seems I'm more of a runner than a sunbather these days 🤣

It's on and off for me. Last week I went out to run at 6.30ish, felt too tired to do more than 2k, then the next day felt the need to run and did 5ish. Yesterday I only managed 1k, though faster than usual, sluggish, genuinely too tired to do more (too tired from the first step), thought I would run again today to make up for it, but I feel ambivalent about it. i will see how I feel later, though I prefer to run earlier in the day.

I mostly enjoy the heat and have found running in it fine, if a little laboured, with my head covered. It's the humidity that is the problem, and yesterday it was too much. Today too, though it's cooler.

Well, you just have to listen to your body sometimes, and if you are too tired to get out early to beat the heat, then you just have to respect what your body is telling you. I was out running at 6:15am on Sunday, but had to have a 2 hour nap in the afternoon!

I love sunny weather but this heat is hacking me right off now. I find myself fantasising about cool, misty morning runs in autumn...sigh. Today is cooler in London at around 23 degrees - so happy! But it will be short lived, harrumph!

Nothing wrong in doing shorter runs of 3 or 4K to keep your hand in (or legs!) during this hot spell, don’t be too hard on yourself. Cooler weather will come and with it the chance to ramp up your distances if that’s what you want. I have two weeks left of ju-ju’s 10k programme so have no choice! (Well, I do, I could postpone it but am having too much fun! So crack of dawn it is for me...)

Well done for keeping up with the 10k plan. I think my 10ks will have to wait till its cooled down x it's probably about 3 weeks since I ran more than 6 or 7 k. But you're right, it will come. A 5k in the next couple of days should make me feel a little better 😁
