it's too darned hot!

27 degrees! I was going to do a 5k there and back, but after 1k, and even with a breeze and intermittent shade, my lungs were going like a Grand National winner, so I turned around and came back. Dripping but surprisingly exhilarated, though I really didn't want to run any further and i was slow as a slow thing. It's so humid the air is like something solid. I've done a short run two days running because i have to go to the dentist tomorrow and won't have time to run (he's half a day's travel away).

Meanwhile I have raised 112% of my target in donations for British Heart Foundation, for the 10k race at Blenheim Palace in September. I had been stressing because i discovered they use animal testing, so I didn't want to contribute to that. However, I emailed them about it and they are happy to put my donations towards an area that doesn't involve animal testing, plus they are finding our more about that side of things for me.

And meanwhile, following on ju-ju- 's running clothes drawer thread, I thought i would tidy mine and count how many of what I have at the same time. Gulp: 8 pairs of leggings, 6 pairs of capris, 2 pairs of shorts, 6 racing back vests, two short sleeved tops, 3 long sleeved tops, two running jackets, 4 pairs of running shoes, a Flipbelt, a camel back type backpack. I'm not even going to count the socks, shock absorber bras and other sundries. I've realised I now have to keep running till I'm 110 to wear it all out and justify the expense!

Hmm I think it need some open back tops or at least some more vest style ones as I only have t-shirt style run tops. We'll done for running in the scorchio.

Racing back vests are brilliant, so much cooler! And thanks, but i didn't go far. But still, I ran, so added to yesterday's I guess that's a bit under 5.5k. I want to get a longer run in this week but it's so hot. Also want to give the Peaks a proper spin.

Yep I'm waiting for a full review. The last shoes I copied you on you got rid of though lol

but only because they were a half size too small. i would have kept them otherwise. as it is, I was seduced by the Peaks when perusing their website (as you do)

Re.Animal testing. My wifeys mum was head honcho of cancer research lab at the Royal Marsden,Chelsea London for years until she retired. Strange but after being retired for one year they asked her to head a lab into Aids. She agreed but on her terms, whatever that was.

Anyway to the point. My wifey was bought up with animal testing and when she became aware what was happening she went to the R.Marsden lab. They knew who she was so they let her in,big mistake. She started letting as many animals out of the cages as she could and caused absolute chaos. True it was futile but it was a statement.

The alarm bells started ringing all around and she was never ever let into the lab again.

3 Pairs Black Shorts, 3 sleeveless tops (vests), 3 short sleeved tops & 3 pairs long sleeved tops for winter. 2 coats for winter & 1 pair shoes + 10 pairs of socks what more do you need!!!!!

Wow good for your wife. And I don’t think protest against something wrong irvinhumane is ever wasted. As for your running wardrobe, that’s a bit insignificant collection 😊

Nice one, young Flick. Any distance is good in this heat. My plan to run after the sun went down didn't pay as it was still like running in an oven.

Thanks Mike :) I did think when i got back that i could have kept going, and i wish I had, but at the time I was scared of a repeat of my faintness after my 12k mad run in the heat. As it turned out I felt fine this time, probably because I drank water with electrolytes in before the run.

Best to be cautious. I was hoping to do 10k last night, but once the breeze dropped all I wanted to do was get home!

Yes you’re right. I could have pushed it but I would rather save my energy for a long run later in the week

Can’t stop singing “ too darned hot” now 😁

My husband’s fave Ann Miller moment, where she dances on the table. I will replicate it one day while he’s watching the football on telly 🙄

Teehee I would buy tickets for that 🤪
