Done this weeks long run (6k) first, reduced my pace to make sure I lasted and felt like I could carry on but was at max heart rate and don't like pushing that.

well done! At least half to three quarters of every run I do is at maximum heart rate, and I'm going slowly, so I've given up worrying about it!
