I spent the day at my 10 year old son's Track and Field Day today. It was cold and windy and I was a bit chilled. So after eating our lunch on the bleachers beside the Track, I looked over to my son and said "Race ya". He was all over it! So we headed to what actually was the 100m finish line and ran a 100m race, just him and I. I had my runners on at least and some stretchier capris. We were neck and neck the whole time, but he edged me out by just a few inches. It was awesome! Now I want to race him in a longer distance so maybe, just maybe, I'll have a chance at beating him. My hubby teaches an older grade at the school that wasn't at the Track and Field today, but he heard all about it from my son's teachers. Now he wants a family race, but he'll kick both our butts so I told him only if we go for a long distance event π. I really do wish my family would run with me more.... I think we could have a lot of fun. Maybe I just have to make it a race every time π
An extremely short (100m) run today - Bridge to 10K
An extremely short (100m) run today

I have a race with my neice coming up, which iβm Really looking forward to. Sheβs been really supportive of me, and I encouraged her to complete C25k
I'd love to run against them in a 10k; I bet my hubby would still win even without training, he's one if those body types and also extremely competitive π but at least I'd give him a run for his money now.
Your race with your niece sounds great. We'll be looking for your race report with a lovely pikkie π
Ha, great race Allie.. of course you let him win by those few inches! Shows how superfit you are, and would leave everyone else in your wake in a mother's race I betπ...xx
I wish I could say I was letting him win, but this momma was running full out π. I could hear his teacher's cheering to win one for the parents. He claimed he didn't give it his all because he didn't want tire himself out for his afternoon races π. A mother's race would've be fun, there's a few runner parents there.
Sounds like he has some racing in his blood! Its crazy how much energy the kids have. Definitely choose a distance race with plenty of hills π
Way back in my distant 20s (30+ years ago!) I used to run occasional half marathons, including the Great North Run. I was always amazed at the young kids who would sprint for 200m, walk 200m, sprint again, repeat, for the whole distance, while I jogged along at as steady a pace as I could manage.
