Just heading home from an amazing day in the Olympic Park in Stratford. I ran in the C25k/BBC/British Athletics women’s 5k race in and around the Olympic Stadium this morning, ahead of day 2 of the Müller Anniversary Games.
The event was free to enter, and we also got a cool C25k T-shirt, a British Athletics sports bag, and a seat to the proper world class athletics competition all free too!
The chip time email hasn’t arrived yet but think it was around 26:20 - not bad for a pretty hot and humid run on what was a surprisingly difficult course.
The race started with 300m on The Olympic track then we ran out of the stadium and into the park, looping along paths, over bridges, along canals and eventually back into the stadium for a final 100m sprint finish!
The event was just for women and very inclusive. I saw a few runners with buggies and the final three ladies crossed the finish line holding hand to huge cheers in just under 59 minutes.
A great day out and brilliant to see some of our best British Athletes performances too!
This marks my 6 month Anniversary from my first w1 r1 in January when I hadn’t run even 100m since school in 1981. All down to the C25k app and Sarah Millican in my ear!
Thank you! 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️

Congratulations to you HinchleyMum on a excellent sub 30 minute 5k time of 26.20, at this mornings BBC. Women's C25K at the Olympic Stadium, your age grading must be +60%.
I have been watching the main events this afternoon on BBC TV, yesterday the winning mens time for the 5000 metres was 13.03, today the woman's 5000 metres winning time was 14.30. Ha ha, that is a time you could aim for at a Saturday morning parkrun 😉😊🏃
Aw, that's brilliant and what an amazing place to run, I bet the atmosphere was incredible! Well done you on a fantastic time as well. Your official time may well be under your estimate too.
I think it popped up on Facebook? I did post about it on here with the link to enter (may possibly have been C25k forum?) but didn’t get much feedback. Got a great C25k T-shirt too but can’t work out how to post more than one photo 😂
Well done HinchleyMum - that's a fantastic time!👍👏 We were up there too today, watching the athletics and saw everyone with their Couch to 5k tshirts! If only I'd known....! I'm curious as to why it was women only - but it sounds like a great event and must have been so exciting starting and finishing in the Olympic stadium!!😀
