Running Continuously for an Hour

So pleased to be able to report on some progress with my bridge to 10km. Since the beginning of the year I have been following the coaching for ‘chatty running’ this means that instead of gasping for breath all the time I run more slowly and maintain a pace that I can talk in full sentences. Well lockdown has made it difficult to run chatty as I have been running on my own ( maintaining a chatty speed but not talking to myself as that would look silly). But today I ran with TailChaser who did a great job of supporting me as I extended my running time to just over the hour and my distance to just over 7.5km. Now Tailchaser is super speedy but she slowed down to go at my chatty pace and we had a great natter as we made our way out of town up a gentle hill into a headwind. Coming back was fabulous with the wind behind us and a slight downward gradient (so glad it was that way round) apparently something called ‘negative splits’ were achieved and this is a good thing and has nothing to do with wardrobe malfunctions.

Tailchaser has a greed to run with me again next week when we can hopefully extend the time and the distance. I am so lucky to have her as a running buddy, she is an inspiration and keeps me going when the monkey in my ear would have me lose confidence in myself.

The magnolias were wonderful and much admired on our run. This one was snapped on the walk home.

Oh isn’t it a great year for magnolias ; let’s hope the cold temperatures next week don’t knock those flowers back.

How wonderful to have a real happy chatty run with the lovely TailChaser Shakes. It sounds like running below a certain heart rate, and it’s so much more comfortable.

Great to hear your plan to 10k is going well. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👏🏻👏🏻

That is great progress. I'm glad other people have magnolias this time if year, but I wouldn't want that so close to my house!

It was a pleasure Shakes. I really enjoyed it. You ran really well today. Yes you are slower than me but you’re teaching me patience which will be as invaluable to me as being able to run a continuous 10k will be to you.

See you and the beautiful magnolias next week 👏👏🤗😀
