I ran 7k this morning! Initially I thought I was a tad crazy for being more focused on packing my running gear for our beach getaway than I was about normal clothes! When I then got up at 6.30 this morning I definitely realised I am now a true runner! But there was the added bonus of the sea calling me to run alongside as a special holiday treat. I love the sea. It soothes my soul. In an ideal world I would live by the sea. One day I will. So this morning I intended to do the 3.5k run of week 3 in the 5to10k, but I was enjoying the beauty of the sea, the never-ending stretch of just the water and me (along with a few like minded souls who were out jogging too) and so once I reached 3k I thought I'll run for 5k. But then I thought I'll only have one chance to run 7k by the sea, so I went for it. The sea breeze helped with my overheating lol but the bit that I loved the most was how in tune with my run I felt. I got lost in my view and in the rhythm of my run. The sea is so vast and we are so insignificant in comparison and this is hugely comforting for me. So now I know I can run 7k, I best attack Blenheim! And then 10k earlier than October I think! If only all of my runs could be by the sea though...... πββοΈπ
The beauty of the beach. : I ran 7k this... - Bridge to 10K
The beauty of the beach.
Well done Claire, lovely post π
Thatβs another milestone ticked off and a reasonable time too π€ Thereβs absolutely no reason why you shouldnβt be ready for the 10k in Oxford on May 13th, youβre doing really and enjoying it πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ π
I have the physios blessing to go for a run this weekend to test the waters. I just happen to be going for a long weekend to the Peak District with friends on my bike ....5k in Matlock here I come ππ
See you at Blenheim πββοΈππββοΈπ
Thank you.
Awe I'm jealous of you at the lakes. You deserve your run though. Enjoy that. Yep 10k in May sounds great. And then I need a new challenge. I best sign up for Blenheim. π See you at that. The sea is flatter than the Blenheim route though lols!
No lakes to speak of in the Peak District Claire, thatβs the Lake District π
Youβll need to enter the Town and Gown as soon as you can, not sure if itβs numbers restricted. Gives you a target between now and then πββοΈπββοΈπ
Great post.. I love the sea too but sadly I don't seem to get there too often, I used to sail yachts and do have my skippers ticket albeit it's well rusty now and it's been a long time since I tied a bowline, oh how your post makes me pine for it a bit lol.
But I am going near there at the start of May for a few days in Swanage. And now I think on it i'm in southwold next week, and have a week in padstow in june.. oh what was I saying about never seeing the sea.. crikey, better pack my runners
Good luck with Blenheim. I ran that with my daughter - it is definitely not flat! Go for It, you will love it. Just allow a lot of time to get in and be patient getting out. The parking gets a bit chaotic.
What a lovely run, and lovely post. It sounds like you're well on the way to 10k.
Fantastic post Claire and well done. Is it the Town and Gown you're doing in Oxford? My daughter is doing that. I'm quite tempted myself but it's probably too late for me to enter.
Thank you. Well I'm thinking about it. Ted suggested it and it seems a good run to aspire to, but close lol. At least you have graduated 10k! Congratulations. I haven't registered yet either. Can't be too late to try though?! Blenheim 7k is next Sunday if you fancy that one too? ππx
Thanks Claire.
I might do the Town and Gown. A friend's daughter is doing Blenheim x
I've just checked and we can sign up for the Town and gown. It will be my first 10k run π²π€£πββοΈ but why not. 4 months ago I couldn't run 60 seconds lol x
I might do it, though I will be scrambling around to get sponsors x
