My Asics wanted me to do a 5k today... v e r y s l o w l y...

I tried, honest I did. But even though I walked for a couple of minutes as a brief warm up before running, I was still a bit quick. I compounded my error by running 7k instead of 5k because I am currently fostering a dog for a local rescue, and he was busy getting neutered this morning, so will not only be on reduced exercise for the next few days, but won’t be able to be left for long in case he does nasty things to his stitches.

Anyway, 7k done in just over an hour. I even remembered to keep walking at the end as - in a new development - I keep going light headed if I just stop at the end of a run.

Haha, yes I have trouble slowing down for myasics plan but I must learn if I am to extend my distance! My children are excellent slower pacers for me but they are at school when I run. Lovely to see you are fostering a rescue dog, hope his op went ok and isn't in too much pain. We have a rescue dog and he is gorgeous. I would foster lots if I could!!

His op went fine, thanks. He is feeling sore this morning though.

I could use one of my grandsons as a pacer, but they are both under 3, so I don’t think they’d do the distance 😆

It seems that many of us struggle to go as slow as Asics want us to. I gave up and just ran my sloooow and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It will all come right in the end.

As for the lightheadedness I'm sure I remember Laura, in the early days, saying don't just stop, keep your legs going.bFrom memory I think this is to stop the blood pooling in your legs, leaving less "up top"😀 Hence the latest ghtheadedness. Cool down walks serve more than one purpose.

Yes. Yes they do. It wasn’t a problem, and then it was - just after I started managing longer distances/going faster. Totally not helped by already slightly low blood pressure. Hey ho. Keeping moving definitely seems to help.

Hee hee! I haven't done an Asics plan but I love the thought of running a longer distance by mistake! 😄

Hee.

It wasn’t a total mistake, I just thought I’d better make the most of the time I had available. As it was I finished and was just getting back in my car when they phoned up to tell me I could fetch him. If I’d only done 5k I’d have just stepped into my house when I rang, and that would have been frustrating!

Slow runs build legs. They only occur at the start of the plan, which is divided into phases, this bring the first

Yes. And I get why, I just... I really can walk just about as fast as they want me to run, on the flat.

I am actually really bad at knowing how fast I am running so hopefully I can use these slow runs to teach myself.

Hope foster doggie is ok, he will no doubt be wearing a plastic collar/cone for a while! running longer by mistake - ha, ha😄 Not tried a Myasics plan, but looked at a few out of interest. I haven't got a sports watch to monitor pace, Runkeeper rather inaccurate (quite a delay so difficult to know current pace). Best of luck with it 👍

He is very sore this morning. He is actually not wearing a cone of shame, because he is leaving his stitches alone like a very good boy. 😍

The plan has an option to turn on ‘coaching’ and will tell you your pace every kilometre, and the split pace too, depending on what you’ve told it you want.

So is the plan on your phone? I didn't realise it was possible to use 'coaching', I might look into it.

Yes. It’s an app on my phone. 👍
