I've been considering running to our next village since I moved house but wanted to do it on a day when hubby could come and pick me up at the end. Having slept in yesterday I missed my run so was out of sync running with hubby - perfect, that meant he was at home, not running, so could collect me. Then I looked up the route I planned and realised the village was only 7k. Hmm how long to do a circular route and get home - 13.8k from a bike ride I'd done. My previous longest was 13.2k so not unattainable. Half a banana before I left and copious cups of tea and glasses of water. Popped a few jelly babies in my pocket. At 7k one jelly baby winked at me. I love new routes and this one was beautiful, very agricultural even a procession of 5 combines coming down the road. When I reached 12k I realised I was still a bit from home - yikes the bike ride was from the rental property at the other end of the village. Never daunted I pressed on. All the calfs were lined up along the edge of the last field grinning at me a cheering me in to my finish line. 14.32km in a time of 1hr 42 minutes. As I ran at an average 7.06min/km I kept my HR manageable and have been able to continue the day as normal. Feel fantastic achieving this. Happy running everyone π€
New longest run - 14k: I've been considering... - Bridge to 10K
New longest run - 14k
Thatβs amazing.....even on a 5k my heart rate is too high at the mo and Iβm way lower on km/hr.
Wow! You do realise that is over half a marathon? It must have felt spectacular! So impressed. Enjoy the high.
Very special but unfortunately nowhere need Β½ marathon- this was km not miles so would need 22km, no particular desire to be running that far/long at the moment π€£π€£
Doh! Of course! Silly me!
Fantastic work Grannyhugs!ππ Thatβs a great distance and a great achievementπππ Well done you!π
π±π±π±π±what a legend!!!! I can't imagine running that distance or that pace. My goodness you must be thrilled with that! I hope you're having some reward for such an epic effort. I'm in awe Grannyhugs π
Aw thanks. My parents were coming for lunch straight after my run, we've had loads of family visiting this week so yes hit the home made pizza, prosecco and cakes without any guiltπ€£π€£
Excellent run for you today Grannyhugs, good time as well, 14K is more than a METRIC Half Marathon.
As you know I am running 1K more every Wednesday to eventually get to run 10 miles or a little over 16K, this Wednesday I will be running 13K, but a suggestion from Cheekychipmunks is to run 13.1K which is a metric half marathon, so by running 14K today you have run a little more.
I am not too sure if the administrators give out badges such as "Metric HM Graduate", I understand they do for Metric Marathon Graduate, I suppose you could ask, anyway, well done on your run today, as you know today I celebrated 1 year since I ran my first full 5k Parkrun.
Thank you AlMorr you are always a support but I was also impressed with your quest for longer runs so inspired to try this one today. I've never heard of a metric marathon, new one on me, thank you.
A metric marathon is held in amongst other places Edinburgh, probably not this year, its 26.2 kilometers, not 26. 2 miles, I understand anyone running that distance on the marathon Healthunlocked forum now gets a badge and the words "Metric Marathon" next to their username, however, I am not sure if anyone running a metric half marathon which is 13.1 Kilometres gets a badge.
Congratulations Grannyhugs, your run sounds great. Glad the jelly babies helped and you had the calves cheering you on near the end πππππ
Thank you -still nowhere near your distances. 1 jelly baby eaten, 2 fairly sticky after being in my pocket all that time π€£π€£
I used haribo jelly babies and wrapped them in cling film . Think it helped π€
Amazing distance Grannyhugs - well done! πͺππ Feeling good after a long run is always a bonus too in my books!
Hope you're still on cloud 9, sounds like one of those runs π although the pizza and cake sound pretty good too π
Brilliant....well done Grannyhugs thatβs a hell of a distance, very impressive and making the cattle smile too as you went past !! π
Fantastic achievement. You are an inspiration.
Good job, I love reading other peoples tales about their runs it makes me look more at what I see.
Wow, thatβs fantastic, loved reading your post, what a great run, canβt yet imagine a run like that, very inspiring π€
Thank you, be inspired then believe in yourself. This time last year I was still telling people I donβt do running π€£
Amazing, youβve come (βrunβ) a very long way in a year, fantastic achievement. ππ€
Excellent GH. Itβs incredible what our bodies are capable of, isnβt it? πββοΈπββοΈπ
10 mile badge is just around the corner GH. Great time πππππ
Fantastic Grannyh ππ» So close to 10 miles and what a fab time. π
Wow thatβs brilliant, it sounds like a lovely run and fast for a long run
What a fantastic run Grannyhugs and a great pace too. I am aspiring to do a run like that π€ π .
I loved reading your post. Iβm intrigued by the jelly babies - ammunition for the longer runs - Iβll have to remember that. ππ
Thatβs just fantastic GHππππ. Anazong run and distance!!! And jelly babies too for company. Pace sounds just right and just a perfect really long run .. so happy for you it felt good too afterwards .. got to keep those legs happy too.
Fabulous job!
16k is only a step away. That's 10 miles and you get a badge for that (on the marathon training forum). Just saying. . .
Thank you. Maybe if I'd known the run was over 14 when I started I'd have looped the village at the end for that magic 10mile - no probably would have stopped earlier π€£π€£ give me a couple of months π€
15k next week and 16 the week after! Its nearly in the bag
Bet that pizza tasted good. . .
Inspirational Grannyhugs fantastic achievement, great to hear all about your nutrition before and during a run. As I approach my 12k I need to think more about that on my way to longer runs. Lovely to have the family for lunch too. So much all in one day, fabulous ππ
Thank you. As I run before breakfast i feel on longer runs i need something in the tank. I used to help out at lots of endurance races and bananas were always handed out along the course so i guessed they were of worth. I dont feel i run far enough for one of those jelly watchers so a tiny jelly baby psychological at least does the trick π€£
OMG you are AMAZING Grannyhugs. You didnt just go girl...you smashed it! Terrifically well done.
Amazing run, canβt wait to be able to get to that level, gratz
Wow! Hang on a minute.. Wooooow!!
That is better. This was lovely to read and in doing so, your run really came across as controlled and as comfortable as that distance gets. Well done you π½
Amazing! That sounds like a great run. What an achievement!
Great to hear it! All progress must be enjoyed to the full. Iβve not managed any running progress for months though learning more about what my body needs is progressing so can remain hopeful.
Keep it up ππββοΈ
What a brilliant run and run report. Well done. Hope you are still feeling fabulous! Iβm also very impressed at your restraint on the jelly baby front. Iβve started taking a few out with me in longer runs but always eat them all π
Seriously impressive! Many congratulations. Very well done to you! PBs are always worth celebrating! πΎπ₯π ππ»ππππ π₯β‘οΈ ππ»ββοΈπ€ΈββοΈππ»ββοΈπ€ΈββοΈππ»ββοΈπ€ΈββοΈ Fantastic! That 10 mile badge is calling your name! π
Wow what an excellent pace for 14.3k Grannyhugs And it sounds like you really enjoyed it too. Did anyone warm your new village that they were going to gain a running tornado?
Congratulations! That's a fantastic achievement.
Absolutely smashing it. That's some run. My legs would be jelly , never mind the jelly babies.
Absolutely fantastic! Well done.
And sounds lovely too.
