Today I was in Dorset visiting family members so another opportunity to run in a different place. It was a misty, damp and humid start to the day. I set off from the hotel along the cycle path around the bay. The path was parallel to a busy road with folk rushing to work. I was overtaken by folk on bikes, other runners too, but I was happy with my steady pace. The path continued around the bay (swans, ducks and seagulls to watch), went over a bridge and past some fields with lovely cattle munching the dew soaked grass. Next the track went through a forested area which suddenly opened out into a large grassy area and a country house! (see photo). What a surprise! It is years since I visited this country park and never as a runner or via this route. It is amazing how running opens up opportunities to explore and experience our surroundings in a different way. What a joy. I jogged past the house and returned to the cycle track a different way, retracing my steps back to the hotel. 10k! I haven't run that distance since April π Legs felt rather tired near the end but I did it!

If you're ever down this way again on a weekend you must come and join us at Upton House parkrun (parkrun.org.uk/uptonhouse). I'm probably biased as I'm a member of the core team and my wife is Event Director but it's a fabulous parkrun. One of our regular volunteers is a professional photographer so lots of great photos on our Facebook page!
