Iβm up visiting my in-laws in Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ and after a morning Christmas shopping with my sister-in-law I managed to conjure up enough energy for an afternoon run before it got dark.
There is a lovely level cycle path in the village where they live, which is a novelty for me as I donβt get many opportunities to run on the flat. My in-laws house is at the top of the hill, so my warm up walk was entirely downhill, with my run starting as I entered the village. I ran down to the loch shore and found the path up to the cycle track, which follows the route of an old railway line.
The autumn colours were lovely and the view over the loch gave a distant glimpse of late afternoon blue sky beyond the clouds. I aimed for a 5k, having run my first 5k since January earlier this week. I really didnβt expect a 5k PB and can only put that down to the flat, even surface today, rather than the uneven and up and down woodland trails I usually run when at home. It was a very pleasant surprise π .
As I headed back up the hill from the village for my cool down walk, an old guy walking in the same direction asked me why I wasnβt running up the hill. We exchanged a nice bit of banter for a while and he recommended I have a βnice cup of tea to cool the bloodβ π . Love it π₯°π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
Lovely photos Delly dot, it's been a lovely day today in Scotland, I ran at Drumpellier Parkrun and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, you are in Ayrshire, Lochwinnoch, a great place for running, cycling and walking, well done on your run today, I am sure you enjoyed that cup of π΅ tea. π ππΎ
What a lovely treat, it looks wonderful. Well done on your 5k and Iβm sure a lovely cuppa after βοΈ!

Dabby-dot is away at Uni, so not with us on this trip. Sheβs run part of this route before when visitors here during her C25K. She had a beautiful day for her run too.
Looks and sounds wonderful! Tea to cool the blood? I love Scottish expressions. Once when I was in the Isle of Skye a fisherman said, of my then toddler daughter 'she's well put together' πWhat lovely pictures and nice to be running on the flat!
Great result! I love those cycle paths. That is a particularly nice route that you took. I tend to run on the same path running in the opposite direction towards Kilbirnie. Not as pretty but always quieter.
