Thank you RFC. Last week saw me get back on track so this week I want to keep that up. I ran a 4k in my new area (Leytonstone), 7k in my old area (Bow) with my running buddy, and then did my new local parkrun on Saturday, which was really good - I'll definitely be going back. I did it in 31:45. Not a 5k PB, but it was challenging terrain (muddy puddles, more uneven ground than I'm used to, and a fallen tree halfway through!). I'm really pleased with that time and in fact my results said I came 6th in my age group. Next time I'll be aiming for 5th :) I'm off for a longish run now up into Epping Forest towards South Woodford. I've planned a route, hope I don't get too lost...

Morning RFC and Ruth 😊

You'll have fun finding lots of new routes.  It will give your running a boost ☺

I have been training for a race in July but am taking in a race this weekend too.  Training is going OK ☺

Good morning misswobble, good luck for your events - is one of them today? It felt like nice running conditions today. I definitely had fun finding my new routes, thick forest in some parts, and an impressive looking map on my endomondo afterwards! One lap was over 9min though - must have been an especially muddy bit...

Morning all, last week was a quieter week for me, 2 runs 4 + 5 k as was my cutback week before increasing my long run distance this week.

A right mix of weather  back to cold icy winds , had enough of those , this week is looking brighter though 😊

Might sneak an extra run later today 😊

Hi Slow_Rob, it was definitely pretty cold last week, can't believe how quickly it's warmed up again though. It feels really nice for running today, cool and not too bright, so enjoy your sneaky extra run if you do go for it :)

My race is on Sunday ☺

Oh okay next weekend, I thought you meant this weekend, i.e. today! I'm not very good at remembering dates to be honest either... Good luck for your last week of training for this and for the July one too - are they both 10ks? :)

Hi Ruth

The one next weekend is a tough 10k; seriously hilly.  I have a 10 mile race on 3rd July, also hilly 😊  They are both tiny, local events, but well supported so should be fun.

I have done them both before.  The hillier one of the two put me out of action for months the last time I did it so I am nervous about it😕

in reply to misswobble

You're much braver than me, small events are still events. I've only so far done the 4 parkruns, that's it. But I like the idea of having a date to focus towards, I may yet enter something... Good luck preparing for your hills :)

Hi RFC wish me luck -I'm tentatively lacing up my shoes and risking starting running again this week. The steroids should be out of my system by now, so hoping all will be well and my lungs won't explode. x

Sarah, I *dream* of being as fit as you!

Have to manage a respectable 5k time by the back end of June for R4L, so have got a lot of hard work to do between now and then, hopefully without overdoing it. Tis a fine line  between pushing too hard and not pushing hard enough. xx

You'll get there, just keep plodding away.. don't worry about times, respectable or otherwise, I've heard RFL is so busy you don't really get the chance for PBs, and anyway, just go and enjoy yourself!

BTW my dear twin, I think your cold arrived in the post this  morning - thank you! I won't run until I feel better, it is indeed a fine line xxx

Great news!  So pleased your lungs are okay after the steroids as well :)  Look after yourself though and don't push too hard

Cheers Annie - your race over the weekend was a massive push for me to get my act in gear and get out there. So glad I did because it reminded me just how much I love early morning running. :)

Thanks for asking AM and yes still going and so far no problems! I'm seeing the podiatrist next Tuesday and I'm hoping he'll tell me I can start to increase the mileage. But it's just so fab to be outside running again isn't it?

I've entered a 10K race in August and I'm just hoping I'll be ok for it by then, but I did this particular one last year and it was so lovely I want to do it again, except last year it was trail and this year it's on the roads. I so hope I can do it.

Hi all

Last week I got my PB at Parkrun on Saturday!

Then today, my HM pack arrived. Chester HM is 15th May! I know I am not ready but a combination of run/walk I will complete this course. I just hope I can come in under the three hours cut off time.

Happy running 👟
