Hey folks, just adding to the chat and a quick post-stroke update at the 8 week mark. The recovery is going well, did a cross country 10.6k in 1:16 using intervals and kept my HR below 160 the whole was so feeling very strong, still having some balance issues but definitely getting better. I did a 6.5k Friday with my other half and her friend Friday, was a real leisurely chatty run and great to jamble (jog/amble 😁) round the common without worrying about the pace.... then a weekend in Amsterdam that involved 30k+ walking in 3 days with only sporadic brain grenades 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Floss, hope all going well for you and everyone,
Slight change of plan, as going off south to see family return to Australia.New long haul flight Heathrow to Perth non stop, one hour stop and onto Melbourne.
Looking to maintain my base-load, with only two runs this week.10k this Tuesday morning ✅ and providing recovery good,10k Thursday morning early.
So if all OK,will give me 33.6k in the last 6 days. First time at this level, and gives me a good opportunity to feel what that is like, as I slowly build to a weekly total of 35km.
I am beginning to think quite enthusiastically about the preparation for an HM goal during June and July. With a modest goal of doing it even solo in my local woodland.
Hello Tbae, first of all I must apologise for not replying to your post regarding dehydration, I do take plenty of drinks, however, I lost my internet connection for 34 hours, this was due to an 'outage' or whatever you call it 'powercut' with my Internet Service Provider, when it came back on this morning I had what looks like 200 or so E-Mails, just going through them all now (I found this one about a quarter of the way down while scrolling ) before I go and run my second 25 minute week 7 round
I’m consolidating with two 30 minute runs and one 5km run this week. I’m stretching and strengthening most evenings. Learning lots here, especially caution 😉
Escaped from hospital on Sunday so back at home for recup. I was expecting to be in for up to 3 weeks so getting out after 2 was a nice bonus. Mainly due to the running beforehand and 3 x 30 deep squats daily (thanks Rignold).
My NHS disembowelment was stitched up with 52 staples so whilst it hurts when I laugh, it does a lot more when I cough. If I sneeze I might fall apart.
I've been told to do nothing for 6-8 weeks and no running for 12 weeks.
Graduated from the couch recently so like paulanoo I'm consolidating. As I only carry an M3 player I had no idea about distances.I traced my route on Mapometer and found I've been running just over 6k ( listening to W9 of C25K then keeping going through the 5 mins walking music)Alternating with Stepping Stones this week.Third one tomorrow .Really enjoying myself.Have just entered a Race For Life 5k for some purpose and to experience a big social run, though I love the solitude of my morning runs.Happy days all...
I was thinking about one of your running form replies of months back now, this morning, maybe had another light bulb moment from you, so many really, but I am going to post something first.
Hi all, I am a new graduate, trying to consolidate as well. First 3 post grad runs not great but tonight I was determined to do 5K no matter how long it took and I did it. Not fast at 39 mins but so pleased to have cracked the distance.
Went out for my first run since doing my 10k run on the 18th May today. A weeks holiday of coastal walking and eating out and Ice creams...but no running😐
So I was really looking forward to today's run. My legs were a bit heavy (I don't drink enough) but my breathing was just fine. A slow steady paced 4k has gotten me off the mark again...now I need to make some plans for June...and get on the quest myself😊xx
