I ran my 50th 10K this morning as part of the Spring HU 10K in a time of 1:12:43 which is about 5 minutes faster than #49 four weeks ago, I saw 5 other runners all going the opposite direction and said 'good morning', the weather was cloudy but dry, a very light east wind, high humidity with a temperature of 13C/55F.

Congratulations on your 50th 10k AlMorr and such a great time. It's not easy running in humidity. Good on you sir!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Freecloud

Thanks Freecloud, humidity is always higher in the morning but the temperature is usually lower hence the early quarter to eight start.

Thanks SueAppleRun, quite happy with my time today, 5 minutes quicker than last month and the 10K I ran on the 3rd January as that was the 10K on the 10th day of Christmas 🤶. 😊

Thanks chrisl72, yes #50, #6 this year as I didn't realise that I ran 2/10Ks in March. 1 in January, February, April and May. ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

PS, #51/10K four weeks later was a even better time of 1:10:47

Great run Al!! Many congratulations on your 50th 10K 👍👏 Here’s to the next 50 🙂

Thanks IP, it was good running my 50th 10K for Healthunlocked, not sure about running 50 more, in September I am booked to run my local Cumbernauld 10k and in October I am booked to run the 10K version of the Great Scottish Run

You're going to be busy Al!

linda9389Graduate10

Congratulations! So much to celebrate there 👏👏👏 We ran very similar times, but you pipped me to the post🥇

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to linda9389

Thank you very much linda9389, as it's not a race I am not too bothered if I pipped anyone or they pipped me, as long as we enjoy our running that's the main thing, isn't there a link somewhere for that Healthunlocked 10K 🥉 medal?,

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

You're right Al, we're all winners! It was the fact that our times were so similar - just seconds apart - that made me remark on it.

Here's the link again to order that well deserved medal sprinterssportswear.co.uk/p...

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to linda9389

I went to the Sprinters sportswear to pay for the medal using my bank account Debit card, I got a reply back thanking me but they don't take card payments and told me to pay by PayPal, I then went to PayPal but the first thing they wanted was my Debit card number which Sportswear don't accept.

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

I think debit card should be ok if you go through paypal because it is paypal processing the debit card rather than Sprinters.Alternatively, do you use online banking Al? If so, you can use the Direct Bank Transfer option on the final Billing Details page on Sprinters website, and then use your online banking to make an online payment directly from your bank to the account number and sort code that Sprinters email you

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to linda9389

No, I don't use online banking, but I will try the PayPal way and see what happens, thanks for that information.

Thanks Floss, I replied on the other forum, the rain arrived at 14. 30, quite heavy with a rumble of thunder at 15:00, it's now ordinary rain with no thunder.

Brilliant work Al! You just keep producing amazing run after amazing run….and a great time too. Swirl time !!!!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Beachcomber66

Swirl time for me is on a Wednesday and Saturday after my 🏃🏾 run BC66, thanks, I also eat a swirl after a bike🚲 ride on a Sunday morning and after fish and chips on a Monday evening 😂

Beachcomber66 profile image
Beachcomber66Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

🙂 we should advertise that as great running diet….you are doing really well on it.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Beachcomber66

I weighed myself the other day, my latest weight is 67 Kilograms, 10 and a half stone which is OK, so the odd fish supper or ice cream swirl is fine.

Beachcomber66 profile image
Beachcomber66Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Definitely; you need the calories to cope with your runs. I have dropped to around your weight now, courtesy of a “pre diabetic” diet….there is over a stone less Beachcomber! VO2 Max has shot up though….hence the 10 mile pb.

Food …I need to make porridge!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Beachcomber66

Despite being Scottish, I don't eat porridge, before my run yesterday my breakfast was a bowl of Nestle Cheerios, a slice of brown bread and a drink of semi skimmed milk with strawberry Nesquik, waited one hour and started my run.

Beachcomber66 profile image
Beachcomber66Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Yes; I wait an hour too…indigestion on a run would not be fun!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Beachcomber66

During the winter when I ran on a Tuesday afternoon, not Wednesday morning when it was very cold I had fish and chips for lunch, after that I waited for 75 minutes, not a hour before running, let's face it if someone has a Big Mac before running he should wait at least two hours before running.

Fantastic AlMorr ,that's an excellent time, very well done to you! 😊And happy 50th 10k too! X

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to aliboo70

Thanks aliboo70, I was sort of hoping to get a time of around one hour ten minutes, I don't listen to music when running or cycleing, only walking, but I do have a metromone cadence app, yesterday I set it at 175 beats per minute, my split 5K time was 36:06, two weeks ago I ran 5K in 32:38 with cadence at 178 per minute, if I could keep that up for 10K my time yesterday would have been around 66 minutes.

I was watching out for your post Al, big congratulations on completing not only the HU10K but your 50th too, fabulous 👌😊🏅

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Run46

Thanks Run46, yes it was my 50th 10K, I remember when running 5Ks I thought to myself that 5K was long enough but the running bug got to me so I increased my distance to 10K, ALL of my 10Ks have been running, no stops or walking, I ran a half marathon in November 2022, during that run there were a few walking breaks, mainly up a few hills.

AlMorr profile image

Thanks Mudita11, I celebrated that run and my 78th birthday today by buying a pair of new running shoes, 15% off as a birthday offer, the full cost is £135 but with 15% off they were £114.75 for me, the shoes are "Brooks, Men's Ghost 15 Running Shoes, Peacoat", I will wear them at parkrun tomorrow.

Sorry I’m late AlMorr . Congratulations on your HU10K which was also your 50th 10k. It looks like you are running in a beautiful place too - running around water is so refreshing.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

That's OK Dexy, where I go for my walking, running and bike rides is a local beauty spot, couldn't be further from the sea, dead centre of Central Scotland, the water in that loch on the map enters a stream and eventually reaches the River Clyde which reaches the Atlantic Ocean 50 miles away to the south west, at the east end of Cumbernauld where I go for Palacerigg parkrun a steam that the runners cross eventually reaches the River Forth and reaches the North Sea 50 miles to the east.

Congratulations to UpTheStanley on being 2nd quickest on the HU Spring 10K ✔️, we were around half way position.
