New bereavement group member. Trigger warning.

Just found this group. Been a member of the anxiety and depression group for over a year. Didn’t think I would need a bereavement group.

My brother was killed three days ago. He was 58 and left behind a daughter who is nine. It is under investigation but is being called a domestic dispute and murder/suicide. There is a possibility that there was a third person involved. My brother thought the world of his little girl. We’re all in shock. Our biggest concern is for what she’s going through and will continue to go through for the rest of her life.

So sorry to hear this sad story. A very similar thing happened to a good friend of mine several years ago, leaving a 10 year old girl. She was cared for by her Aunt & seems to be coping well & is a lovely girl. My deepest sympathy to you at this awful time…sending a virtual hug.

Thank you for sharing the encouraging news that she is doing well. My youngest brother and his wife have filed for and been granted custody. They are excellent parents to their two children and this is going to be a challenge but they are hoping to be granted full custody.

Hello  Mumbutterfly

I'm really sorry that you have joined us in such sad circumstances {{{hugs}}} The loss of a loved brother in any situation is horrible, but this is just so tragic.

You must all feel devastated, including your niece who I hope is having therapy.

It's such early days that your head must be going around, not knowing why is an awful load to bear.

You will be busy in the coming days and weeks but please know we are always hear for you, anytime.

Sending love and support.

Thank you. My brother and his wife have filed for and been granted temporary custody. They have set up counseling for her. They will be going to court to try to get full custody. They are excellent parents and will do what is best for her.
