Cognitive behavioural therapy
Hi, I've posted here before so just a quick update - RLS for 47 years, tried DAs, Gabapentin, Pregabalin and on Tramadol at the moment. I've been through augmentation. Tramadol is helping a bit but my sleep pattern is all over the place and I keep falling asleep in the afternoon. My daughter has had

Can Biased Beliefs Play a Positive Role in Some Circumstances?
That belief is not substantiated because 75% of people with OCD are significantly helped by Cognitive

, for instance, according to OCD-UK.

How to find a good cognitive behavioural therapist?
My tinnitus having got significantly worse recently, I'm keen to try cognitive
behavioural
therapy
but am having trouble identifying a suitable therapist. There appear to be dozens of qualified therapists in my region (north Oxfordshire) but none list tinnitus as something they treat.

My experience with mental health and First Episode Psychosis.
I am waiting to start cognitive
behavioural
therapy
specialized in Psychosis. On the meanwhile I’m trying to look after myself in a constructive way. Having staid away from old bad habits that would do nothing more than add fuel to the fire, it is still a struggle.

Having trouble with right med combo for 11 year old son.
Our son was diagnosed with ADHD in December 2022. We started behavioral therapy (DBT training) in January 2022 and also recently started ADHD meds in April 2022. He is currently on Focalin XR (15 mg) right before school and short acting Focalin after school (7.5 mg), We have found that the long acting

why docs don’t want to prescribe opioids for RLS….😔
With all the recent total panic by docs on not prescribing opioids, I thought I would just attach Andy Berkowski’s excellent piece on why we are often being refused opioids now and almost certainly in the future at least for sometime. You may well have read this article before Kakally Andy Berkowski

Will I ever get my son back?
My 5 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD and DMDD. He's angry and mean all the time. He didn't used to be this way; it started developing a few years ago and has gotten worse. We're trying now to find medication, none seem to work so far. He needs behavioral therapy but I can't afford it. He's so smart

CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Insomnia) for Parkinson's Insomnia
I have read in multiple places that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia works for people with Parkinson's. I can't seem to find anyone who has tried it. Has anyone here tried it? Did it work?

How My Phobia of the Dark Helped Me Treat My OCD
I used to be afraid to leave the comfort of my bed nighttime for a fear of being attacked by supernatural beings. This was ridiculous. I prided myself in having a scientific mind. How could I be afraid of ghosts nighttime when I walked out of my comfort zone? I was pretty sure that ghosts didn’t exist

Controversial query re causality of PLMD
Most of you are RLS sufferers, but my question is more about PLMD, which is treated with similar medications in Western medicine protocols but is not the same condition (Eastern medicines treats them differently). Anyway, to the degree anyone knows, it is obvious that PLMD can cause depression and anxiety

Do your mental struggles show something wonderful about you?
As many know, I am a big advocate of Dr David Burns' work. He wrote "Feeling Great" and does the "Feeling Good" podcast. He developed TEAM CBT which is Testing, Empathy, Agenda-setting, Methods Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He uses a hypothetical situation and asks if there was a magic button that cured

ADAA Personal Story: Why I Wrote a Children’s Book about Postpartum Depression When I Was 9-Months Pregnant
When I was growing up, I watched people on TV enter emergency rooms inaccurately believing they were suffering from a heart attack. After a full workup was done, the relieved TV doctor pronounced it was only a panic attack. For a long time, I wondered how someone could possibly confuse emotional stress
