Does anyone have experience of trying the Linden method? There was an article in the paper about it at the weekend. But wondered if anyone on this site had tried it and if so how they had got on.
The Linden Method: Does anyone have... - Anxiety Support
The Linden Method
Yes, did nothing for me
yes Pingu i did and it didn't work for me as well and few people in here, please read post from 10 days ago asking about Linden Method and go through it to understand why it didn't work, it wsa open disussion between few people in the forum!!
Hi rouri
can you tell me where I can find the post on here from 10 days ago. What heading was it under.
yes of course hun, it was on the 17th of July asked by HARDWOOD member of the forum and subject called (fear fighter or the linden method) you have loads of info there and people's experiences
please let me know how it goes, to be honest most of the thing in his book can be found on the net, I felt stupid after buying it and now too scared to ask for a refund.
Thanks very much Rouri, managed to find the post. Interestingly why are you too scared to ask for a refund? Surely the worst that can happen is that they can say no? Whats the fear that you have?
well if i tried sending email they will come back to me saying that I am doing soemthing wrong and you know that it is never easy to get money back at all. so if they started annoying me and give me stress, i will be upset and that will cause me anxiety. that is why i am not bothered. i did ask if we do a list and send it to them, as few people would be due for a refund but no one came back to me. maybe for the same reason!!
I purchased the Audio Linden Method, and it has not helped me in any way I want to get my money back, I did send a message to add my name to you, so I am going to phone them, betbthey say I am doing something wrong, but its almost impossible to get money back, but am going to try.I have had anxiety agoraphobia panics and monophobia over 40nyears some good intervals but it akways comes back Lindenlea
Does anyone have any more constructive feedack. What parts were good, what wasnt so good about it. what was the problem they were trying to solve with it. Did it help more at solving panic than OCD. How much time did they dedicate to it. Why do they think it didnt work. What does the bundle consist of?
as i remember you will be send a package that includes:
book: this will start by telling you his story, how did he start to get anxiety, his struggle and tablets he was taking. after that there are some chapters about:
Food/Anxiety Symptoms/Tablets withdraw symptoms/OCD/Diet-food/Distraction/9 Pillars/etc..
Cd's includes the msot important thing that should cure you is the 9 Pillar (noe became 10) it is like short videao asking you to do something every day. you get to learn one pillar every day and stick to it (eg: don't discuss your anxiety with people..etc) don't think i am allowed to give information.
other CDs including relaxation CDs and visualisation CDs that should make you send your anxiety fear away (well never worked for me) kind of cheap self hypnosis done at home by you.
his material is very similar to few websites i visited, and I was soo upset to find that some of his script taking exactly like one of anxiety website (now i don't reserach anxiety anymore as I already know far too many stuff)
i am not saying it is useless, maybe someone who just had anxiety can benefit from it but for a long anxiety sufferer it doesn't work.
not sure if this is what you want!!!
HI, please please dont waste your money on the lindon method, he promises a full re covery which no doctor can do, how ever if you have money to burn and you want to try it and it does not work out for you then he will refund you. he calls it the lindon method as his own invented method but what he actually teaches you is CBT of which mr lindon did not invent!!!!!
Ok thanks for that. thats quite interesting actually as I am on a hugely long waiting list at the moment for CBT with the NHS and if this teaches CBT then it may be useful to me. Otherwise I may be waiting for another year on the NHS. Did you buy and get a refund?
Hi Pingu.
If it's of any interest, I recently completed a fourteen week CBT course with an NHS therapist and after winkling out my life history, the only useful suggestion she had was that I should "replace negative thoughts with alternative rational ones". This I already knew, so it wasn't of much use.
I also bought Charles Linden's condensed (book) version of his course, and found it to be about as much use as the NHS therapy.
I've now decided to live with my anxiety, and if that means avoiding parties and other social events, so be it. I can always stay in and drink homebrew.
Partic.
Sorry to hear it didnt work for you. I cant live with the level of anxiety I have as I am agoraphobic and life is very miserable so I need to do something about mine.
Yes, I get the impression that agoraphobia responds better than plain old social anxiety (to CBT).
I can go out OK, but when I'm out I can't mix with people. So it's all a bit pointless really.
I managed to join an investment club once. I stuck it out for five years before accepting that I just didn't fit in and I wasn't wanted.
I just can't socialise, thats my trouble. I sometimes wonder if I really do have anxiety or something else.
He did give me a refund but it took time and i had to reply to about 18 questions to jusify my refund. I am currently now reading CBT for dummies workbook, give it a go it will save you alot of money and is better as far as im concerned. good luck......
Hey well done you. You seemed adamant that you couldnt cope asking for a refund but you did it. Will certainly take a look at CBT for dummies.
I have tried Linden and it didn't work for me either...waste of money and nothing else...it is sad that some people are making living from our problems
glad I found this
I was getting a little sucked into his rhetoric on the websites and videos
but the more I thought, it just seems like one of those horrible American marketing campaigns
all the , YOU WILL BE CURED, stuff etc
I'm always open to new methods though, why I was interested
was thinking of this book (not as a cure, just for reading)
amazon.co.uk/My-Age-Anxiety...
anyone read it?
