has anyone tried venlafaxine? if so what like for you?

My husband was on venlafaxine they did work for him, but when he came off of them he was in a terrible state shaking and feeling so emotional i would read up on these first.

Ive been on 225mg of venlafaxine for about 6 months. Had tried other meds before this and they didnt help. Started on 75mg of the venlafaxine,that didnt really help. My depression and anxiety were severe. But after upping the meds to the 225mg within a couple of weeks noticed an improvement. Now I feel the best I have in years. Dont feel depressed at all,the anxiety is still there but a million times better. Also not had a panic attack since being on these meds. For me these have have been a lifeline,but everyone responds differently. The one negative thing I will say is,when I first started them the first 2 weeks were hellish. Worsening of anxiety,more panic attacks and deep depression. But I stuck at it and thankfully things improved and improved. Now rebuilding my life and happy to stay on the meds.

ok thanks for the reply , i have a small doses of 37.5 which is meant to be for anxiety only. will see how i go

Hi, ive been taking citalopram and they made me worse,ive been back to my doctors today to seek a 2nd opinion and this doctor finally agreed with me!....he has now prescribed me venlafaxine...gotta wait a couple of days for my body to get rid of the citalopram before i start them but i really hope they make me feel better. Doc has given me 75mg slow release...hopefully i wont get side effects. He has also given me Diazepam to help whilst doing the transition but they are not for long term use!

Fingers crossed that they work for a of us because this illness is horrendous!

I take venlafaxine, 75mg standard release twice a day. I've not had any problems or side effects and I'm feeling really good. Yes, there are days when the anxiety surfaces but they're few and far between thankfully. Hope you feel better soon x

Im on 2 x 150g at the moment. They are ok but hey word of advise dont miss your dose. Cus when i do i get terrible witdrawel symptoms. Like electric shocks in my brain. Dizzy head. Amplified sound. the list is endless.
