Fluoxetine & Alcohol

I drunk alcohol last night and I'm on fluoxetine for my anxiety/depression. I've done it before but I've just had a terrible thought about the two together killing me! I can't stop worrying now... what's the chances?!

Hi Sandy1710, It is never a good idea to mix alcohol with antidepressants or antianxiety meds. The reason being is they are suppressants in themselves. It could magnify your symptoms plus not allow the medication to work as well. I would say if you had the alcohol last night, you should be okay today. I would suggest talking with your doctor about having an occasional drink and see what he says. Good Luck

My anxiety is always awful when I've had a drink. It was my cousins wedding. Think it's the last time I'm going to drink again as I cannot deal with hangovers. I was sick so hopefully that got rid of a lot of the bad stuff! Haha

Sandy, that as well as make sure you hydrate today. Alcohol tends to dehydrate us which is the biggest cause of headaches and hangovers. Also make sure you eat today to flush your system and rid yourself of any leftovers. Feel better.

Thanks Agora1. I feel like I just go on and on about my problems on here but I'm an absolute wreck atm, really struggling with this anxiety business. If that's even what it is! I wish I could believe it was all in my head!

I'm also on the same medication and , I have my work Christmas party I was thinking or just having one or two drinks just to be social as I have not told my boss about my anxiety so they will ask my why I'm not drinking. And the worry of this is making my anxiety go crazy my chest get tight when I thing about it xx

I'd come clean Gemma. My work have been brilliant for me. Don't keep it bottled up. I'm here also if you want to chat. I love to chat I feel it helps.

I'm just scared they will see me diffrent or as I'm kind of freak cos that's how I feel sometimes. I pull out my eye brows and hair xxx

I've pulled out loads of my hair. Most people understand me. If they don't then they aren't worth our time!!

I feel gilty after and makes it worse , I have a little braclet that has a bell on , so if i hear it i am aware I'm doing an I can try to stop xx
