I’ve recently had 3 shave biopsies for potential melanoma on my shoulder and back. I had 5 done in November that the PA said she was just doing for precautionary measures and they all came back benign. This Tuesday I went in because I had a mole that’s was itchy and the PA basically said “that doesn’t look good, we need to biopsy that immediately. There were 2 more she saw that she said she was concerned about as well that she did shave biopsies on. She showed me the close up pictures of why she was concerned and it has me quite scared, haven’t been able to sleep or eat. Has anyone had experience where they thought they had melanoma but their biopsies came back benign?

Anxiety about possible melanoma diagnosis

Hi mariner8993, 3 years ago my daughter had a black mole on the top of her
head as well as suspicious looking growth on her back and shoulder.
PA also did the biopsies, check by the physicians and came back negative.
I know how worrisome this can be but try to remain positive while waiting for
results. Good Luck and let us know please. xx
my dad had a “pimple” on his nose that was there 3+ months that he asked me to pop. I refused and told him to see his doc. He ended up having cancer on his nose tip, and they were able to just shave it off and he’s been fine for the past 3 years. I wouldn’t worry too much about about if it is melanoma at this point, since it’s not confirmed, but even if it is, there are treatments that are low invasiveness.
Thank you Mamamichi for your positive and affirming response.
I hope this relieves the fear of many on this site.
You did right in having your dad seek out the advice of his doctor xx
