I have always struggled with social anxiety, which has affected my confidence and self-esteem. It has resulted in me avoiding social situations involving large groups. However I have recently started doing a degree, it has involved alot of group work and presentations, which make me feel totally uncomfortable. I constantly worry about what people think of me or saying something stupid or sitting there with my mind being completely blank and having nothing to say. I am now feeling out of my depth and not sure if I can continue going on feeling like this. But I have tried counselling and I am on tablets, yet it hasn't changed how I feel in these social groups.

Hi, social anxiety is really annoying but it can certainly get better. The thing is you might also be an introvert? so social situations might naturally tire you out? The way to get better at social stuff is exposure but ideally done at your pace. You don't want to be thrust into intense situations it is better to gradually expose yourself to social stuff (ideally in a supportive environment). Some toastmasters clubs are good for this, they are full of people who hated public speaking (at first) and are usually very supportive of people with social phobia. Just an option to think about. Wishing you peace and health
