Hi SHEPHER, I was weaned off of 150 mg of sertraline and put on duloxetine, and risperidone about 2 weeks ago. I have had a little improvement in my sleep so far which is wonderful. I’m still waiting to see how this medication affects my mood, and hopefully makes me feel better. I’m in a Psych Unit also trying to come off of clonazepam, which is rough. I just saw your post and it caught my eye because of the sertraline and duloxetine. I hope it works out for you soon. I started low and they increased me all the way up to 190 I believe (I might be wrong) that seems high.. I’ll double check when I get my morning dose. Good luck to you my friend, best wishes.
Hi mamashark sounds like your going through a tough time. Can I ask how long it took to get weaned off sertraline and then start duloxetine. and was it difficult coming off the sertraline. I am on 125mg of sertraline my gp said go down to 100mg for 4 days then go down to 50mg for 4 days then none but then start on the duloxetine I am so frightened I think this may be to quick and don't feel I would cope if I react badlyHow did you do it and what was your experience
They weaned me off the sertraline rather quickly, like within the first week of being here I was completely off of it.. and they started the duloxetine the same day they started weaning the sertraline… they started at a very low dose and then increased almost everyday it seemed until I got to 120, not 190 I’m sorry! I take 120 mg right now. So they kept increasing the duloxetine as they decreased the sertraline. I didn’t notice any side effects because I’m also coming off of clonazepam and having a very difficult time with that alone in itself. It’s been very hard. It could be all of it combined. They have made a lot of med changes here in the psych unit over a period of 2 weeks which is rather short. Try not to be afraid. Decreasing every 4 days sounds good to me! Better than what they did with me. Gives your body a little more time to adjust. I wish you the best!
