Today I start week 4 of Fluexotine. I had severe anxiety and after 10 days on 10mg fluexotine and diazapam I felt so much better. Day 11 onwards just on fluoxetine felt better but today start of week 4 my anxiety has spiked and I feel a bit of nausea I . I have read this is normal as fluexotine now getting into my system and to keep on with it. Has anyone else experienced increased anxiety week 3-4 and how long did it last? Thankful for any reassurance.

I just wanted to say Hello and Welcome you here. I am sorry I don't have an answer for you.

Thanks for your post. When I have a noticeable change of mood while taking meds, I try to go back to the last day or week to see if anything happened that might account for it.

If the answer is no, then I presume it's the meds and go back down to the last dose that was OK until I can discuss the dose with my doctor.

If it's a yes, then I consider what happened to trigger the anxious response and what self care I can take. I write a mental 📝 to myself to bring it up in the next therapy session.

The process has worked for me in the past. It's not useful in a crisis though. I need to use a phone helpline. 🐈‍⬛

This happened to me too, except it was earlier. For some reason, a side effect of Prozac is anxiety? Since it takes a while to get in compared to other medications, the side effects can come in later than expected (it takes around 8 weeks to see the full benefit compared to a few weeks for others). That may be why the side effects are coming in now.

For me, I had an abnormal anxiety response, so don't base anything off of mine!

The side effects should go away once the 8-week Mark kicks in, but keep in touch with your doctor/therapist. They may have to up the dose like they did for me. IDK what dose you are on (mostly likely 10-20), but I had to go up from 40 to 80 because of that.

Good luck!

Thanks for advice. I’m much better today and I’m gonna keep on it till at least 8 weeks and give it a good go. Think blips in recovery are to be expected but they just cause more anxiety. Thanks again.
