I take ashwagandha, I've been taking it for about 4-5 years. It doesn't make me sleepy. I buy GNC brand or Solaray. Both are 470mg and both are good brands IMO. I also agree with Marysblue that Now is a good brand.

Other things that can help are melatonin and phosphatidyl serine which helps lower cortisol which helps you relax more. i also found Valerian Root tincture helpful for sleep.

I found that sometimes writing down my anxieties helped and also figuring out what I was anxious about helped. Anxiety is thoughts about the past and future so figuring out what the anxieties are really about can help you deal with them. For instance, a lot of my anxiety was from repressed anger and from being bullied as a kid in school which led to social anxiety.

What helped me a lot was learning that anxiety is a paradox and the more we struggle with it and fight it the more it persists so the solution is to surrender to the anxious feelings and learn to never believe the anxious thoughts. One of the things that helped me was "The Work" by Byron Katie, it's a simple method of learning to question and challenge your thoughts. She has books out and is on youtube. I also found the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos helpful.
