Worried
Hi lynstone60
I was diagnosed with exactly that in September last year, as you say its not very pleasant - I was black in those 'down below' places. I am 74 - almost 75 now. It was very embarrassing, but the doctor who treated me from John Radcliff in Oxford was superb. She gave me some creams, including a steroid cream (which I do have to use carefully) and a tub of cream Cetra Ve to use as a wash instead of soap or shower gel. I also have some oestrogen pessaries, - Because I have had breast cancer - mastectomy - many years ago, I have never been prescribed this hormone before because of the cancer, so I was ultra worried. I also had my cervix removed just after the B C. I needn't have worried because the medication quickly restored the balance. If you need a polyp removed it is easy and quick to do, so please don't fret. I have seen this doctor twice more at 3 month intervals, and now wait to see her in 6 months. As for the smear - I had my hysterectomy removed 'underneath, which was when they removed the cervix, so don't need one of those, but if yours should come back 'suspicious' they will deal with it quickly! - but strangely they left my ovaries. Try not to worry, however in times of trial (when you worry most) find something to take your mind off what is happening. Meditate, be at peace! xx
