I have been working in a great self-help book called, 'Buy Yourself the F***in Lillies' by Tara Schuster. In it, she asks the reader to ask themselves:
1. What are my principles?
2. From Where do I draw my Self Esteem?
This is a really fascinating topic for me, and I am working my way through answering the questions. I am curious... what are YOUR principles? What gives you confidence, or self-esteem?
This is super hard to answer, and maybe it is even fluid for some of us. But, what makes you.. you?

Hey! My principles are based around kindness and a sense of community! And I draw my self esteem from external validation around that… in short, I’m a people pleaser and like it when people tell me how much they need me and how grateful they are for me.
Obviously this is not very healthy 😂 so thanks for giving me something to think on.
In a similar vein, I have been writing ‘intentions’ each morning. It started as a practical thing (clean bathroom, pick up middle child from school) but worked so well I have started adding more emotion based ones (sympathy for x) - I shall have a look at how those work for me rather than build into the idea I need to please others xxxxx
