Dying suddenly or sudden Medical Emergency Anxiety

Hi. I have dealt with anxiety off and on since a teen (now 38). It is always about dying suddenly from my heart stopping, stroke, heart attack etc. Something quick and out of nowhere. My Dr.’s, therapists, wife who is a nurse, family always say you’re fine and you’re crazy. That’s not going to happen. I see my Dr every 6 months and tests are always fine and told I’m healthy. Just anxiety, I’m on meds as well for the anxiety,

Does anyone deal with this constantly and have any advice? I’m in therapy now and again on meds, but it’s just all the time I’m fearing dropping dead. Every little skipped heartbeat, quick pain, woozy feeling, tingling sensation.. my brain goes to it’s about to happen. Would love to know how to recover from this. I can’t enjoy life anymore.

Hi Yatesrp, I see you have been on this site since 4 years ago. The only thingthat has seemed to change is that you are older now. I say this because this is

how Anxiety robs us of living and keeps us in a cycle of fear where we just barely

exist.

You are not physically sick and yet worry each day about dying suddenly or having

a sudden Medical Emergency. A therapist once told me, no matter how much you

worry and fret about dying, it will not buy you another day, another hour or even

another minute. When your time is up, it's up. So why take living away from yourself?

This made me think hard about what I was doing to myself and why. How much more

can the doctors do in reassuring you that you are a healthy young man? Please don't

allow Anxiety to trick you into believing each day may be your last. The next time this

happens, ask yourself, is this thought helpful?? No? Then love yourself enough to live

and enjoy the blessing that you were given. Life is Good :) xx

You have said that so well!! The sentence you said” no matter how much you worry and fret about dying, it will not buy you another day, another hour, or even another minute” when your time is up, it’s up. So why take living away from yourself. I am also worried about dying, I’m not living. So thank you for this, really has me thinking!

Yes..This is me..Perfect reflection of my thoughts.. I am also suffering with the same thoughts since last 3 years. I was on medication and did respond reasonably well. But as I stopped medication 6 months back..They have again cropped up...As Agora1 mentioned, I lost my 3 years of a beautiful life without any fun/enjoyment, even taking away my family's enjoyment...

But, today the words mentioned by Agora1 really touched me. I should and will practice the sentences as and when required and I hope I will get some good. Thanks Agora1 for the meaningful words.

I wish Yatesrp to come out of those feelings soon ...Best wishes
