Ovarian cyst

Hi guys was wondering if anyone has experience with ovarian cysts. I had an ultrasound which confirmed I have a cyst on my left ovary, the nurse couldn’t see my right ovary during the scan.. she told me not to worry and i will either be referred to a gynae to have the cyst removed or drained. My periods have been so irregular since the start of this year. My last period was the 24th March and nothing during the whole of April. I began to bleed early hours of this morning and I’m unsure if it’s a period or something else? I called my Dr this morning and told him all this and he basically said he wants to wait 2 WEEKS for my ultrasound report to come back and that we can take it from there. I’m freaking out, obviously my mind went to cancer right away but the lady who done my scan said not to worry as I asked her almost 30 times if I should be worried 😂 I’m still really scared and feel awful at the moment, I’m so tired, my tummy is aching, my legs feel cramped up ☹️

I had a similar situation. In general you would want to have it removed as soon as possible. I am in the US, and mine was surgically removed 5 days after it was discovered. I wouldn't worry based on what the nurse and doctor have told you, but I would stay on top of things and make sure it is done at the earliest possible time. Part of the reason for this is to give you more peace of mind.

I had an ovarian cyst few years ago. It ended up going away on its own within few weeks. My doctor told me they are usually not a cause to worry for younger adults. If they are not rushing to see you I wouldn’t worry. I alway say to myself if it was something serious they would see you asap. I Hope that can put your mind at ease some.

I had one too and it went away on its own. Usually does after your next period

I’ve had cysts since I was 15, I’m 49 now. They are not cancer or any sinister but they make you feel like crap. They usually go away on their own. Only the really large ones have to be removed. I’m on the pill full time as that helps prevent them though doesn’t stop them 100%. The tummy and leg pain is so common with these cysts. They also make you very tired. I’ve never had one drained or removed. The conservative approach is to watch and wait. So don’t worry about the 2 week wait. Your cyst could deflate on its own as most do. It can also rupture, which hurts like the dickens but is not life threatening. 25+ years of me having cysts I’ve just come to roll with the punches. But trust me when I say it’s normal and nothing to worry about. Millions of women around the world have them.
