I had a mini-stroke on Monday with no lasting effects. My problem is i am now scared to death of another one. I am staying in bed just waiting for something to happen. I received excellent treatment at the ER and many tests were run. I am waiting to have a special heart cath done to check for "bubbles" and i cannot get in to see a neuroligist <sp< until the end of the month. Has anyone had a TIA and can help me get thru this. My brother-in-law is in end of life and my sister needs me there for support Thank you

Needing reassurance
Good morning! So sorry to read that you have a TIA. My mother had one in 2009, and another in 2012. Thankfully she was able to get on a heart medication that they thought would prevent another, and it has worked well.
I am not sure of your medical history, but I believe that TIA is a "warning sign", but not necessarily an indication of another one; at least not imminently. Of course it is normal to be fearful. Have you spoken to your doctor about ways to recognize one might be happening? Chances are you will not have another one, but that does not take the fear away.
I would focus on the good things, and try not to let the fear overtake me. Stress is not good for the body, and maybe it leads to a change that could cause some kind of physical attack in our body.
Keeping you in my thoughts! Please update us once you hear from the doc. You got this!
Hi myskye, I had a stroke in 2019. It actually only lasted 10 mins if that. Numb arm and trouble getting words out. After tests at the hospital the doctor said I had a proper stroke. So I am on Edoxoban a blood thinner , I also had a heart scan and a 6 day monitor that was uncomfortable but necessary. I have been fine since fingers crossed. You will be fine, plenty of exercise and healthy diet. I also suffer anxiety but really I think you will overcome the worry. You will be there for your sister.
