This is my first post...

I'm supposed to go to church tomorrow with this lady from my sons football team. I'm feeling sick to my stomach & start panicking thinking about it, but i so badly want to make a new friend & connection outside of my house. Any advice? I don't know if there's enough Xanax to get me through... 😂

Hi dolphinluvr, xanax is only a temporary band-aid, a crutch per se.You have what it takes within you if you truly want to find a friend.

The power of the mind is strong enough to push aside anxiety.

Using proper breathing can lower your expectations of church as well

as lowering your adrenaline.

Breathe and let go. This meeting tomorrow will go okay once you get there.

You've got this my friend...This may be just what you need in getting out of the house

and meeting a new friend. Good Luck.. let us know how it goes. :) xx

Take it one step at a time. Just one step forward. Don't look back. Don't look too far ahead. If you find yourself feeling scared, do it scared. Keep moving forward. You got this!

You are going to feel so good about yourself when you have done this. Does she know you are a bit apprensive? I know you are going to be OK. Maybe in time you can share your worries with her. Don't forget to arrange to do the same next week, repertition and routine is good. Take care and have a lovely time. You'll be fine x

It might sound a little trite but try flipping the anxiety around and using it as excitement about going instead of dread. This was something that hadn't occurred to me until a few years ago that it's the same energy just interpreted differently. Also try focusing your thinking on your opened heart instead of staying in your head.

I ended up sucking it up & getting out and attending church. I took my son with me for support (he wasn't that excited), i was glad i did! She was super happy i made the effort & it turned out good & i didn't die. I promptly came back home, but at least i went. 😊
