Have been taking meds for reflux for quite a few years now. In the past month have experienced stomach pain right in the middle of upper chest under the ribs and above belly button. I have a bit of medical knowledge but this is a bit of a mystery. Last night pain was in lower abdomen. Thing is and I am sure I am not alone in this, I can get to talk to any GP, let alone get an appointment. I know things are difficult with Covid, but we can't help getting ill in other parts of our bodies. Also I am 78 years old. Thing is, I am not sure when to get worried and when to hopefully ? be seen by somebody. Talked to 111 just for info, but she got me in at my local hospital for urgent non life threatening conditions. Doc there said to double my medication for 2 weeks and if no better after reducing to contact my GP. Hope you can help or give advice please. Spending half an hour early morning twice phoning surgery only to be told no slots, ring again tomorrow. My husband often says I'll get the hearse to drop me off !

Stomach pain
Hi I do have lot's of stomach issues and I find these meds make mine worse or have over the years
It is not good at the moment though the care and advise we are struggling to get when something other than covid is wrong with us , I am having several experiences like this when trying
I know you say you cannot get an appointment at your Doctors but are they doing phone calls ?
I would phone my Doctors again and insist I speak to one or maybe those two weeks of doubling the tablets might work ?
I love that you can still have a sense of humour well your husband seems to even when we are suffering , I hope it either works doubling the meds or try and insist your own Doctor contacts you
Hope you manage to get it sorted x
Thank you BeKind28. Our GP surgery does operate phone calls, but they never seem to have any more appointments left and I call first thing in the morning. I am trying to get online to the surgery and try to get something done on that. I wish you well and keep safe
Hi
They should at least try and get you a phone call so keep trying and let us know how you get on x
The meds for reflux such as omiprozole and other ones should not be taken long term because they stop us from absorbing vitamins have you been checked for helicobactor pylori as I was having chest pain heartburn I went to a&e as I thought it was my heart they said acid reflux gave me meds for it but he said get my doc to do a stool sample to check for helicobactor as this can cause stomach pain chest pain acid reflux and my most Annoying symptom constant need to burp anyways I did and I was positive I was treated but still have realy bad days/ weeks were I feel awful but maybe u should look into it
I have been tested for the helicobactor thing. I have been taking meds for gastric problems for years. Didn't know it stopped you from absorbing vitamins. Thanks for replying to me
