There is a blood test that can detect if there is any chance you may have cancer any where i your body I cannot remember what sort of levels of what they look for , but it gives the an idea with the results , it is not 100% but as near as they can get doing a blood test but the best thing is to talk to your Doctor if you have any worries as they know if tests are needed other than if a blood test is enough :-)

Take Care x

A fbf WICH is a full blood count can detect any infection in your blood WICH could be cancer. Also it detects antibodies and also your liver kidneys thyroid etc but if you had any problem at all a fbc would detect it believe me and also a gas blood test is a oxygen one it just shows if you are getting enough oxygen x

Just a couple of observations. I went to the doctors with a bowel problem. He suggested a referral for a colonoscopy due to my age mainly but I freaked out so he sent me for a blood test and when it came back fine he said I should be reassured and did not necessarily need to go.My husband kept going to the doctors as he felt unwell and had bloodtests that continued to concern the doctors. He went for all sorts of investigations and tests which were negative but the blood tests continued to be a concern. It was later found he had lung cancer but it was the blood tests that always raised the alarm.

I have been told by another doctor that if the bloods are fine it is a "biggy" that things are fine. I take great comfort from that when my anxiety tries to tell me differently.

There are some cancers that will show up in your blood test. For an example if you white blood cell count is elevated. The Dr will first look for an infection he will also look at other blood markers like your platelets count, neutrophils , absolute lymph count , and others. If they are off the Dr will or should retest again after a course of antibiotics if they believe it’s an infection. If the repeat test is still elevated then other test will be preformed. Imagining test and so on. Prostate screaming blood test can show elevated psa. A lipase blood test can detect a potential problem with your pancreas , a Jak2 blood test can check for polycythemia ( red blood cell cancer), a Flow cytometry blood test to detect a leukemia, the list goes on.

Best wishes John

If you had an X-ray and it was clear you don’t have lung cancer.

What prompted you to have blood work and an X-ray? Where you having back pain ?

Just near the middle but I suppose anxiety can do that

Just the shortness of breath made get an X-ray and the pain but it was all clear and blood were normal

Then I would stick with the Facts .. the Facts are this you have anxiety disorder and shortness of breath and chest / back muscles tension will cause pain. It’s a very very common symptom of anxiety. That being said people with anxiety Catastrophize things certainly with health anxiety.

What about tightness in throat constantly

Ironj in reply toLeebowles98

Tightness in the throat is called Globus hysteria. It’s a common sigh of anxiety disorder. Some people will feel a lump or tightness in their throat.

Try you breathing exercises in a dark quiet room to relax. Muscle relaxers like Tizanidine it works great for that condition.

I would see a psychologist not a general Dr. and ask for a benzodiazepine for your anxiety. This type of medication is the best for this condition. Anyone that tells you it’s addictive is not look at the medication as giving you your quality of life back.

If your not on a benzodiazepine for anxiety maybe you should talk with a psychiatrist not a (general practitioner) about getting on one. General Dr will scare you off the benzodiazepine meds claiming there addictive. They can be but look at it this way. benzodiazepine work great and if it gives you a quality of life back it’s worth being on a medication that works. Look at it this way people with diabetes may need to dependent on insulin for the quality of life but Drs hand it out without question. I’ve been on and off Xanax for 30 years and it’s the only thing that works for me.

I’ve been on Xanax for 6 yrs now! And it’s the ONLY thing that keeps me sane. My regular doc didn’t want me on a benzo so I went and saw a psychiatrist and she gave them to me immediately

Xanax is a great medication given a bad name because of the recreational users.

Hi Ironj, I totally agree with you. Even though I am off Xanax now, there was a time

that I needed it and it did it's job or I wouldn't be where I am right now.

There is a time and place for medication and Xanax is on top the list.

Hope you are well and staying safe :) xx

That’s great the Xanax was there for you in your time of need. Your post are the ones people need to read. So many people put it down unfairly.

Stay well and again thank you for sharing.
