I’m so scared I have melanoma
Melanoma doesn't just show up overnight. My dad had melanoma and it developed over a long period of time. I really doubt it's what you have. Deep breaths.
Reassurance and support.... you don’t have melanoma, it doesn’t happen ‘out of no where’
Lastly, this is one of those situations we all talked about where you should start to practice challenging your thoughts and feelings. 🌺💜
Thankyouu
I know how you feel. I've had numerous skin cancer scares which have all turned out to be basal cell cancer (the non dangerous kind). One thing I have learned in the past 10 years of this is that the skin produces all kinds of weird lesions...far more than the internet will ever mention. I also know that as a patient you never feel totally assured until a trained professional has a good look at it either in person or via photo. My dermatologist will respond to me same day whenever I've sent a good quality close up picture. Do you have someone in the medical profession you could ask to do that for you just to put your mind at ease? Please keep in my mind that melanoma takes several months to start becoming dangerous if left untreated. Size also matters (is it bigger than the eraser head of a pencil?) If by one in a million chance this is melanoma then the fact that you noticed it right away is, I have to say, freakin awesome and you've already won the battle! Checking your skin and noticing anything unusual and reporting it right away is absolutely the best way to keep yourself safe😊
Any time you have anything like a freckle or mole that changes color or gets uneven borders, have it checked immediately. I had a freckle on my upper arm. It looked like a normal freckle to me. It had been there for a while but I wasn't concerned at all.
When I was at the doctor having a check up the nurse taking my blood pressure said how long has this freckle been here. I said I didn't know. She said it looks like Melanoma. They did a biopsy and when they called to tell me it was stage 1 melanoma I was scared to death. I had it removed and so far they think they got it all. I have to be checked every six months now.
If that nurse had not paid attention, no one would have seen it and I would be dead by now. Melanoma is deadly so get whatever you think shouldn't be there checked.
