Going off of Nardil in 4 days

Doctor is having me discontinue Nardil in 4 days. Day 1 35 mg 2-4 15 mg. Worried about withdrawals.

1st day off of Nardil. My head feels funny. It’s only been 24 hours since my last 15 mg. Took the . 5 klonopin first thing this morning as doctor prescribed. Feeling tired. Start in 6 days. This is very scary. Has anyone gone off of Nardil?

Hi Jemema.

I've been off Nardil for a month. Just about fought through first 4 weeks before giving in. Now on diazepam for 2 weeks. Don't know what's coming next. It's torture.

How're things with you?

I was scared going off of it but it was easy. My doctor had me use Klonopin to substitute and on the 10th day I started Lexapro 5 mg. It was harder with the Lexapro than the Nardil. The end of the 2nd week most of the side effects from Lexapro were gone. I’ve been on Lexapro almost 4 weeks. He will probably up the dosage to 20. It’s been almost 5 weeks without Nardil and it’s finally gone. I am so glad.

I must admit I was hoping to get to the point of managing without anything. Realise now that's so unlikely. I was also on Nardil a long time.

Lexapro/Escitalopram has been suggested but I'm scared. So you think it's worth it?

Yes, it’s one of the number one antidepressants with fewest side effects. I am medicine sensitive so I had to start on .5mg. Usual dosage is 10 mg or 20. I am taking it during the morning because it started keeping me awake.

I had to take a sleeping tablet with Nardil because it used to make my muscles jump.

You say 0.5mg not 5 mg?

I am sorry, 5 mg I had to cut the 10 mg tablets in half.
