My doctor is switching me off of cymbalta to Effexor, I’m not taking to the cymbalta well. I know everyone is different with their meds, but anyone take Effexor? How does it make you feel? Side effects? Best time to take it? I want all the details, as I suffer from Otticual neuralgia, possible fibromyalgia, high anxiety and medication/health anxiety.

Switching meds
I am on Effexor and I have been for just over a year. The side effects I get are strange/vivid dreams, night sweats, weight gain, more of a brain fog. Which I’ve found all antidepressants that I’ve been on cause. Remember all antidepressants work differently for each person. Idk if you know but Effexor is addictive. I only once missed my medication and it caused my to get extremely sick. Like stomach flu and then also mentally I become very unstable. That evening I was finally able to keep down the medication and then everything went back to normal. So the key is being extremely careful about taking your medication every day. It probably sounds like a lot of negatives but this medication has given me most of my life back. I no longer have emotionally roller coaster every day. One minute suicidal, the next so so excited. I tried a lot of medications that didn’t work until I was put on this one. You have to way the possible side effects, the possible benefits and if you think this medication is right for you. I also have possible fibromyalgia, and am waiting to see a specialist. Wishing you the very best ❤️
All I can say is that Cymbalta is very difficult to come off of. I had deep depression coming off, and had to have Xanax in addition to Lexapro for about 1 month or more before I got off of it. It is a very strong drug. Keep close touch with your doctor for issues.
