Hello all wonderful people out there. Hope your new years is going well. I need help understanding my stomach issue and anxiety. So every morning i wake up with moderate anxiety. As the day goes by i start feeling bloated and lot of burping. At the same time i fee my anxiety. I am not able to understand if it is my stomach issues causing anxiety or my anxiety causing my stomach issues. Please advice. Also, how to cope with this throughout the day. I am taking paroxetine and buspirone to help with anxiety and depression. My biggest problem is anxiety episodes. How long does it take for buspirone to work 100 percent. I am taking 10mg twice a day and it has definitely helped me but not 100 percent there yet. Today is my 14th day on buspirone.

Hi, sorry to hear you are going through this. Anxiety definitely causes stomach issues but at the same time gut problems like colitis (which I have) also affects your mood. If you don't have an existing stomach issue it is likely your anxiety is affecting your stomach (but check with your doctor if it persists). I haven't taken the medications you are talking about but I know SSRIs like Zoloft and Prozac take up 4-8 weeks to have their full effect. One thing to check is that if you have anxiety you might have a tendency to eat quickly which causes stomach issues, if possible slow down and chew your food well to see if that helps. Are you seeing a therapist as well? Take care.

thank you Jameshuh for your reply. I have been to Gastro Doctor and he said it could be GERD for which i am taking pantoprazole. Stomach issues only happens sometimes when i have eaten in parties or in a restaurant. Home food dosent make me that gassy. Also, i am seeing a psychiatrist and according to him it could be IBS because of which i am having this anxiety. I have given up looking for a trigger because i am not able to find anything that is causing my anxiety. I leave it to god to give me strength to fight this disease.

You will get there Jkse. I noticed a difference when I avoided sugar, processed food and alcohol (it is impossible to do it all the time but I do it as much as reasonably possible). IBS and anxiety are definitely linked. In the longer term I can't recommend this book and the work of Dr Harry Barry enough, he give the best explanation of what anxiety is and how to tackle it i've ever seen. Wishing you peace and health. youtube.com/watch?v=IitN-3x...
